Thanks!ra272 wrote:Really nice!!
Indeed she is. I took her out for a spin when i had the 32 pitch gears to test. only ran her for about 20 seconds; the gears were surprisingly quiet and smooth.romulus22 wrote:I see it's loaded with electronics. Have you taken this one for a spin yet?
I have since swapped out the gears for a set of great looking 48 pitch gears (pictures below). The spur is an associated white piece and the pinion is a beatuifully machine trinity brass/gold pinion. Ive only tested this in the apartment....im looking for an ultra clean parking lot or ball court to test run

Thanks!! I wonder myself, especially since they designed the rear arm design correctly. i was thrown for a loop when i mounted the dynotech arms...no shock mounting tab holes? the long shank idea fixed that but still makes you wonder

Associated white parts 81T spur and Trinity brass/gold 26T pinion.

Very nice, good work!
I like the Trinity pinion, nice detail.
I too used the same holes to mount the front shocks, but then I couldn't use the Mcallister front
oval tower.

Re: RC10DS White Parts Special
Looks awesome. I have collected several older DS kits and random parts over the last few years. Hoping to start my own restoration project later this winter.

Re: RC10DS White Parts Special
Thanks DaveM, i initially had a 32 pitch setup but gears were nothing to look at. i went with this setup because its smoother but more because it looked sweetDaveM wrote:Very nice, good work!

Re: RC10DS - White Parts Special
UPDATE: PROJECT COMPLETE 6/09/23
My RC10DS White Parts Special has now been labeled as complete with the mounting of the Vaterra 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback. A few mods were done in order to make it happen. This RC10DS was received in 2014. The rebuilt started in 2016 and was about complete minus body. The completion was June 2023.
First Mod. The body post were repositioned on the bumper in order to align with the pre-existing holes. This avoids making new holes on the body.

This DS had original DS wheels and tires (dry-rotted of course). The original setup proved too wide for the Vaterra Body although it looked cool

A front Axle/C-hub swap with that from an Associated SC10 4x4 allows me to use after market wheels and tires on the DS. I went with the white Protoform VTA wheel/tire preglued set. 0 Offset in the front and i believe 6mm in the rear. The swap moved the axle back a few mm's which allowed the front wheels to clear the body. No additional trimming was needed other than the stock lines.

These are shots with the protoform wheels mounted.

Stock FastBack Body Mounted

You gotta love the rear view...Triple slots galore

I decided to add some character by placing custom made number decals ive been saving for the right time. She is now #78.

With that done, i was fortunate enough to take her out for a spin on the parking lot, one whole stick pack. Performance was awesome. She tracked straight and exponential steering had her making smooth turns. Grip was very nice with the Protoform tires and wear was good. no twitchiness. acceleration was nice and top speed impressive. you can spin the rear on command but it stayed planted in on throttle turns. Of course being in the mall parking lot , the possibilty of hitting a curb is likely...sliding on the roof a bit...scraping the rear bumper and front headlights....yes....it is all very likely to happen.

Now a bad wreck as she kept running sweet!
