Re: Things that irritate you
From what I've seen of Detroit, I'd probably do it as well.rctenracer wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 11:58 am Drivers who stop at the Red Light look both ways and drive right threw it. Very common in the Detroit area the total disregard for traffic laws and signage.
Probably a high regard for their lives, instead of disregard for the law.
I'm sure that everywhere isn't like what you see on the internet. But the pictures and videos on the internet are pretty damn knarly.

Re: Things that irritate you
I was reminded yesterday of the fact that so many people don't drive at a consistent speed, and it kills me! I was on a 4 lane highway yesterday for about an hour, and the same car and I passed each other probably 6-8 times. It was a 55mph road, and I had my cruise on 62mph the entire time. I am fairly certain their speed ranged from 48 - 70mph.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

That sums up the entire thread very nicely
It reminded me of this quote from The Brothers Karamazov:

Re: Things that irritate you
Daily occurrence for me. I always set my cruise when I can, helps keep me from speeding too badly, plus, it's one less thing to have to think about while driving. Unfortunately, the masses don't seem to know what a cruise control is for, to make matters worse, most of them are pedal pumpers, which means their speed fluctuates 5 to 10 mph above and below the limit. I absolutely HATE riding with a pedal pumper and it's even worse to have to follow one.morrisey0 wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 7:44 pm I was reminded yesterday of the fact that so many people don't drive at a consistent speed, and it kills me! In a similar vein, the idiots that are afraid of the gas pedal when the light turns green, taking a dozen blocks or more to get to the speed limit, if they ever get there. Then there is the converse idiot who flies off the line like a bat out of hell, then slows down just before they reach the speed limit.

Weather forecasts.
I was painting a body in clear weather. I walked out between coats to check on it, then I heard something. I grabbed the body and ran inside. This was a few minutes later.
9% chance of rain, my ass.

Re: Things that irritate you
It's kinda funny, I grew up in the era when they used chalkboards and magnet boards as visual aids during a weather forecast, in many ways, I think they did a whole lot better job of prediction WITHOUT all the computer modeling and high tech gizmos of today. Where I live, you can pretty much guarantee that prediction below a 50-60% chance of rain means that you won't see a drop, unless you open up a roof, then you'll get an unexpected storm before you can get it sealed back up.
And, like you, we had a similar incident a month or so ago where we were supposed to get rain on a certain day, nope, it came 3 days early and lasted nearly a week instead of one or two days. I'm just glad that we've finally gotten enough rain and snowfall this year to end the multiple decades of drought we've been in. Most of our reservoirs are now near or at capacity and we still have a huge snow pack, which is highly unusual for California.

I am convinced that the top on my Miata controls the weather in Indiana.

Sounds like you need a Monster Miata conversion.
A 500+hp 363W will make you forget about removing the top.

Re: Things that irritate you
Not for me.
If I get to the point of a modern engine swap, it will be a Coyote or 4V Mod. Although, both of those would be tough for a Miata.

Re: Things that irritate you
I once saw a Miata with a trailer hitch on it.. it was quite a disorienting moment.. I still question if it was a dream or a crack in this reality simulation.

Re: Things that irritate you
Trailer hitches get added to brace and stiffen the rear frame, as well as to allow a small carrier for a set of track day tires/wheels.
