I think the white blue green is an awesome paint scheme.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 fresh out of storage after 25 years
I've always thought that the box art looks pretty good. Aside from the option of changing the colors but keeping the scheme, I think something could be done with the carbon fiber paint effect/trick. Start it at the apron/base of the stripes and fade it out/fade into the solid color(s). I'm having a hard time finding a pic of a good example. But it's an airbrush technique involving that rubbery foam mesh...MyOldschoolRC wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 9:31 pm Going to be painting my TRX1 body this week and looking for some feedback if I should go with the original paint scheme or something completely different and more modern looking. I’m definitely leaning towards the original paint job but would like to hear some feedback regarding it.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

I’m pretty sure I know what your talking about with the carbon fiber effect. I’ve done it on at least one of my other bodies before and it definitely adds a cool effect. That’s a good idea of going with the original scheme but just tweaking it a bit to make it look more current.

Would anyone know how I go about located certain parts for this car? I’ve checked eBay and as many people have stated on here before parts are pretty limited for this buggy now.

They might still be available or "hiding in plain sight".

your best bet is to check ebay. Buy a 'lot' if necessary and sell off what you don't need. White is going to be expensive and best if you buy a parts car with what you are after. Your list isn't too out there but some of the stuff is going to be a wish upon a star. That white bumper has been non existent for years. The last few white bumpers I got I had to buy a complete buggy to get it...which leads me to still needing one for the original needMyOldschoolRC wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 12:14 am Here’s what I’m lookin for that I haven’t been able to find so far.

While searching ebay your best bet is to search 'vintage traxxas'. You can try part numbers but those looking for part numbers already have them bought up and waiting for someone to need them and charge a kidney for them....yeah, just came from ebay and can't stand what the place turned into.

I was vintage traxxas from a long time back and loved their stuff until traxxas became what it is today. Some of my favorite vintage though is their bullet, srt, blue eagle, ls2, trx1, trx3, nitro (hawk, buggy, street) but these were all from before traxxas started concentrating on rtr.
Good luck with the parts hunt!

Peace and professionlism.....Kabunga signing off!!!

MCI has their Traxxas section down right now, so it'd probably be better to contact them directly.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 fresh out of storage after 25 years
Thanks for the info. Luckily I don’t have to have those parts necessarily to have a complete car but if I run across some of those I would like to get them just so I can make this buggy look fresh out of the box. So I will keep my eye out for them and in the meantime I’ll get this one cleaned real good and put back together. It’s already in great condition so no need to break the bank trying to track down a white whale. I’ve been able to find some stuff like shock towers and a few other parts so all in all I think this is going to turn out really nice when I’m done. Thanks again for the suggestions!

Re: Traxxas TRX1 fresh out of storage after 25 years
The Traxxas section has never been up! Every time I have tapped the Traxxas option, it takes me to a dead end. I've always had to scroll thru the entirety of the decals until I stumble on what I'm looking for. Then I don't order anything because I'm pi**ed it took so long to find.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 7:17 am MCI has their Traxxas section down right now, so it'd probably be better to contact them directly.
EDIT: Holy smokes, do you think the Traxxas link is F'd to keep the Traxxas lawyer spyhunters off MCI's trail. Because if Tracks Ass have internet scouring robot searchers, they would have to tweak their search (hunting) parameters to sub-searches but they are too lazy to do that?......for now.
But....MCI totally has TRX-1 decals available.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Looking really good and close to being done. Took it completely apart and soaked all the plastic pieces and cleaned everything real good. And the best part is it all works too.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 fresh out of storage after 25 years
Yeah, if you go with the proposed "Talon" name (in RCCA sneak peek bitd [I guess they ran into TM/copyright issues with Jeep/Eagle]), the color swoops do look talonesque and do fit the contours very well. I think the shading/color gradient adds another level of bitchin'! *Chef's kiss*
There is a certain level of irony with Traxxas running into copyright issues....
Hope you're doin' something fun.
