My newest Ultima re-re (Tomahawk body)
Hi everyone,
Kind of bored on Friday night. Thought I'd post a few pics of my latest Ultima build.
It has a Tomahawk body. I painted this body up to be my runner. The body was purchased off ebay from someone parting out a kit and it was pre-cut version. As such, I don't love the cut lines behind the front tires. The way it is cut just behind the rear shock tower could also be a bit better, but that's my fault. I have another unpainted and un-cut body that I plan to trim a little differently when I paint it. The new body will be for the shelf.
I pretty much went with most of the Kyosho upgrades in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHmrKIU5LAQ.
The motor is a Hobbywing 8.5 turn brushless and the esc is a Hobbywing 10BL120. Front tires are Kyosho soft-compound and the rears are Marwan OT66 re-pros.

Absolutely stunning!
I've never owned a Tomahawk and have no experience with that car so I'm amazed how well the body fits an Ultima.
Your car is like the model Kyosho never made - but should have. It just looks amazing.

Great job! If you had gold rims it's almost got a Fox look to it but you definitely made it your own thing. I just ordered a TBG body for my Ultima rere.

Re: My newest Ultima re-re (Tomahawk body)
I always felt Kyosho kind of missed the boat when they didn't release something similar after Joel Johnson won the 1987 IFMAR with a Tomahawk bodied Ultima.
Seems like a whole new car they could have sold as a "World Champion" special edition or something of the sort. They would not have had to tool for any new parts...just design a pretty new box with World Champion all over it.

That is just sexy looking! Really wish we'd go back to rear cab designs haha.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Looking great. Although that's a Tomahawk body, it's definitely putting out some Optima vibes.
