RC10 Graphite Vintage Runner - Setup help

Post by Subboy »

Hi Guys,
I have a RC10 Graphite Team Car that I’m going to be racing in our vintage class here and in Australia. I am going to have to run a a 6-Gear Box in order for it to be compliant.
- Anyone that runs one of these on dirt can give me a few set up tweaks, tips etc for them? …..I can’t say I ran one of these in the bad old days (I had a JRX2)…..

- It seems to have a bit of bump steer (A&L Steering) ….but if I space the steering rod up it will hit on the inner suspension ball joints?

- Any tips on the old 6-Gear Box?

- Do you run a full length LiPo or run a Shorty? Length wise or side on like a modern car?

- Shock oil and spring rates? (Std hard anodised original shocks)

- What breaks on them….spare parts?

Cheers guys!

Does nobody actually drive them anymore? Are they all shelf queens?

I start here on any RC10:

Front - 35w/#1 piston/silver spring (maybe green) - middle top hole on tower, outer hole on arm - 25-30* castor block - inner camber hole on tower - bunch of weight on nose
Rear - 30w/#1 piston/silver spring (maybe green) - inner hole on tower, outer hole on arm - 3* arm mount, 0* hub - inner camber hole on bulkhead

Saying "on dirt" is broad, so can't say on tires. Find out the popular tire used at the track.

I use shorty lipos.

I don't use them if I don't have to. But I've never done anything fancy to a 6 gear trans. Just built it and ran it. But you can make metal idlers out of some old outdrives, put bearings where the dust shields go.

Spares? They're old cars, anything can break. When I go racing I take lots of parts and even spare cars to rob parts off if I have to. And it's not just for me. I take stuff along in case fellow racers could possibly need something. You gotta try and be prepared for anything. These parts aren't hanging on 99.9% of hobby shop walls you race at.

I'd have to see the car to address the bump steer issue.

Sorry for the late reply,
Thank you for your advice, I will look at setting it up soon as I have some vintage racing coming up in the near future.
I have managed to find a set of the rere worlds car caster blocks, I believe they are 25deg?
I will get some pics of the bump steer issues once I start to rebuild/set it up and see if there is something that is not right on it.

Cheers.

Hi,

Download the Worlds manual, use the same setup on the steering turn buckle, 2 washers under the ball-stud on the steering block.

I hope that makes sense, I have been drinking

Cheers, Dave. :)

What ball studs and cups are you using?

There are a few options for getting more room around the upper camber link attachment.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.
