Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
Got a nice looking Peak Racing Griffin motor. Unfortunately it's only nice looking. The endbell is a loose fit with no good way to tighten it. This one is destined just to be a display motor. I guess that's ok. The weird round body brushes would probably be hard to find spares.
. .
Nice set of Parma Cyclone II stocks and an almost as nice Twister Scorpion. One more Parma Cyclone II than I needed, but too nice to pass up.

My LHS has some. They want ~$12 a set.Frankentruck wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 4:42 pm I guess that's ok. The weird round body brushes would probably be hard to find spares.
I have one of the aluminum endbell versions but I already have a couple spare sets.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

This motor came in the mail with the endbell mostly popped off. I thought it was was missing a timing ring and a timing ring screw, but it's actually just a worn friction fit endbell. Seller sent a timing ring at my request. Oh well. If it was a candidate for running, I'd be asking about those LHS brushes. The ones it has are good enough for static display.

The smiley face over the original price makes me feel better abut paying "vintage" prices

Grabbed this HB Cyclone D4 off a local auction site in New Zealand, grabbed it for the transponders and brushless set up but the very generous seller also "threw in" a tamiya touring car with another transponder. only paid $120USD for both, got a mate whos two sons will soon be racing them locally.
Very cheap good quality cars to learn with, and introducing another couple of young guys into the sport. Get them hooked young.

Damn, that's my kind of nice "extras" deal.... considering the local price of transponders on the second-hand market up here in Oz-land, that's a free couple of carscas22 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 5:40 pm Grabbed this HB Cyclone D4 off a local auction site in New Zealand, grabbed it for the transponders and brushless set up but the very generous seller also "threw in" a tamiya touring car with another transponder. only paid $120USD for both, got a mate whos two sons will soon be racing them locally.

Yep, every now and again you come across a true gentleman when trading, also scored an original Losi JR'S Choice motor on the same site last night looks good condition for my JRX-Pro rebuild, not as cheap $80NZD but period correct.
Turns out you can still buy the rebuild kits for those original losi shocks, new off the shelf (got the silver longer units for the front) and apparently traxxas rustler driveshafts are a direct fit so ill be trying those too.

Schumacher Stagger Rib & VEE 2, and JConcepts Carvers & Pin Downs truck tires.
Snagged some Novak stickers and a brush hood alignment tool off ebay. Got my very first NiMH battery for certain brushed motor vehicles.
Thanks to juicedcoupe for recommending reel oil in lieu of other bearing oils, and it costs 3.5 times less per mL than 1UP Racing that I usually use.
Also, Frankentruck came across an 82 channel AM crystal and sent it my way just because he knows I use 82 in my AM radio gear. Seriously awesome dude.

I got this super sexy, all graphite, Jrx pro chassis with cutout today. Has a light bit of wear but no extra holes drilled.

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
Got some fun today. Some of which I'm quite familiar with (Green Machine 2s, Midnights, Fantoms) the others not as much.
Some of these have near 0 wear, like they were broken in and then just put away.
Never seen or heard of the Race Prep Chi Town Hustler, Losi Super Insane, or Pretty Puny Sissy Little Wimpy Motor.
Should be fun to look in to!

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
I got another load of spare parts for the Schumacher Cougar re-re I still don't have.
Apart from the front end I could build one from the mountain of Top Cat/Cougar spares I have stockpiled.
I don't see Schumacher going the Tamiya route and re-releasing their stuff over and over again. I am hoarding while I can. If all goes well, I will be crashing these cars for another 20 years at least.

A Peugeot 405 body from the UK for an upcoming rally car build.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

I always loved the RC10 rally cars. Those wheels and tires look good in there. I still have a rally body Incase I ever get around to building again.
