This is sort of a branch off from the Mini Jrx2 thread. Jeff pointed me to some Traxxas Hawk cad files and being as the hawk was my first performance RC I have been considering making a mini version of it as I have been designing all these parts for the Mini Jrx2. I printed off a test chassis but when I lowered the quality for a test print I messed up the raft adhesion so the bottom looks horrid lol
I don't know where this is going to go but it is fun to think about.

Awesome project! I am curious where you found the Hawk CAD model.
I picked up a pair of Mini-b's for my son and I to get him into the hobby ,which I am just now getting back into after years away. The 1/16 scale can make repair and maintenance challenging, they are blast and relative inexpensive entry level into buggy racing.
A suitable and available transmission for your 1/16 Hawk would be the transmission from the 1/16 E-Revo / Slash / Rally 4WD. They are the same scale and can be picked up on eBay for cheap (Traxxas part# 7095). If you could fabricate a custom mount plate to flip the motor around so it is tucked in beside the transmission it would make a decent 2wd buggy trans.
Jeff pointed me to them in the mini jrx2 thread, I have been poking at them on and off while working on losi and associated parts, recently I adjusted the holes on the chassis to be compatible with the screws I used on the mini rc10. If you want access to the shrunken files I can share the tinkercad file with you.

I have a merv transmission I picked up for testing when I was trying to figure out how to stuff something in a vaguely rc10ish transmission, and while it will require adjustments to the trans case I think using Traxxas gears in a Traxxas replica is almost poetic. I mocked up the basic fitment tonight. There is plenty of room in this case at the diff area, I could almost stuff a small 1/10 guts in it heh.
I also finished editing the hole sizing on the chassis to use the screw sizes I am using on the mini RC10, although I am somewhat annoyed the chassis model has a clipped tail, if I can get accurate measurements I will definitely fix that. The chassis will fit on a ender 3 bed at 45 degree rotation easy enough.
