Put that nice looking graphite back together
Because I was told to do so lol
I'm going to put that nice looking graphite back together after I tear it down and clean it up.
Here is a before pic

Yum
We can always appreciate dirty pics, especially once we see the end results.

Yes, they are Lohas wheels. Just use a truck front axle so there's enough thread to get the nut on. Once the front axles are swapped, then they bolt right on.

Ultrasonic is the way to go. I use them daily at work and for parts cleaning at home. Get a decent one, won't have to buy bigger or better later.

Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
Hey Cru ! Go balls out

Will you be replacing the body by something more period-correct?vintage AE wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 1:38 pm Because I was told to do so lol

Wait, no , that's the B6. Please don't put a body like that on the graphite.

Re: Put that nice looking graphite back together
Got the new ultrasonic cleaner, and ya, I still have to use the toothbrush and pipe cleaners, but what a difference, love it.
All of the hard work is done by the cleaner, which was so nice. I just used the provided solution. Next time I'll use Dawn dish soap, which supposedly better. Next step, the hydrogen peroxide bath.

Re: Put that nice looking graphite back together
Hello, I'm new to this forum. I'm just getting around to restoring a graphite chassis RC10 I picked up almost 10 years ago. Nature of the hobby sometimes right?
I'm looking to get it back to 100% original. For as bad as it looks the chassis is perfect without a single mark in it. Transmission looks new and unused. I'll be visiting a buddy who apparently has a very large stash of vintage associated cars and spares. Hoping to buy it all from him (untouched from the late 80's early 90's).

Re: Put that nice looking graphite back together
The peroxide did its thing and now we are looking a little bit brighter.
Time to focus on the hardware.

Re: Put that nice looking graphite back together
Sounds like you got a great car and potentially going to have a lot of nice parts too. Fingers crossed that you hit the motherload.Steadman wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 12:25 pm Hello, I'm new to this forum. She's coming together nicely. Here's a couple of pics of her minus wheels and shocks.
