Watched Dead Pool over the weekend, and got inspired to build a replica. Can you tell me the materials used for the body mounts? Do you have any of the dimensions?

ok, i got 2 donor cars from ebay. both were in great shape with the exception of one the chassis sets. one of them had one too many holes drilled in the chassis.




so i took the cleanest chassis set and painted it. both cars had the solid spring cups, non perched clamps, bottom loaded shocks, shock towers, ball cups, and bulkhead. all period correct. so i picked the cleanest parts and started cleaning the lot. i also trimmed and reamed anything that needed it. i opened up the rear arms for clearance issues with the stub axles.





i then dyed all the parts with black rit dye. i also added a spoonful of salt. the shock towers were in the pot with the other parts. i just had to leave them a little longer for the dye to take to them, while the the rest of the parts dried off. anyone with a careful eye will notice that there isn't a battery cup and strap in the lot. i forgot them and had to do a later dye job on them.





assembly was next. all the shock shafts and hinge pins got the scotch brite treatment. including the ball ends. i then grabbed some kydex stock and cut out the side and front nose body mounts.



next the tranny, shocks, forming the kydex body mounts, and body....

Has anyone figured out what the writing on the trans brace masking tape?

There are better pictures on the the web, but photo's from that period are never that great. The numbers would be the pinion and spur

Making some headway on the Dead Pool RC10 Replica. Some parts are place holders - Example: Chassis, Battery, Tires, Shocks, etc... Plastic bumper and side mount parts not secured yet. Need dimensions from the body.

Turning out to be allot of fun. I found the wheels in an old stash, made my day.

I'm tempted to make one of these replicas too, just because they're so cool. It looks like pretty high standards have been previously set by a couple of nice builds. Finding some 5 slot wheels appears to be the first hurdle.

I just acquired a pair of fronts, complete with aluminum hubs. They fit metric bearings, so they would need CRP axles (I have a set of those too).

They look like the ones above, narrower than the ones on the original car.

In the movie car, the fronts are the fronts are the RC10 narrow front ribbed tires.

The Mini-Mags on the Dead Pool car were one-piece wheels, with grooved foam tires mounted on the front and rear.


I've got a team driver black A-Stamp chassis set that I should use for a Dead Pool replica...and it makes me feel guilty that I don't want to use it to build one.

Those look like they're 8th scale wheels. The right wheels would be 1.6" dia rears, and 1.5" or 1.75" fronts. Advance Engineering Part #'s A10-R5S and A10SF5S.
