I think you mean Traxxas. :P

Yeah I dunno, I've just chalked it up as another zany Japanese thing.

The zaniness doesn't end with the fenders. This recent crop of new Tamiya buggies are assembled upside down; gearbox, motor, etc. are loaded from the bottom.

I'd call it a marketing experiment.

I reckon Tamiya is trying to plan for the future when us oldsters who only buy vintage and re-release buggies are gone.

For years, they've been criticized for milking products originally released in the 1980's and now that they're actually trying something new, everyone hates it.
I sorta feel sorry for them but I'm sure they will sort it out eventually.

Ah yes, Bosozoku style. So bad that it's good. I believe it started with motorcycles, and eventually transferred over to cars.

Not a fan but I reckon whoever designed these cars was inspired by the game trackmania.

Reminds me of a wide body Mustang, except uglier.

Under the 2022 regulations, F1 cars have sprouted little fender thingies over the front wheels. Perhaps someone at Tamiya is an F1 fan.

That new Tamiya would be hideous without the fenders, so no harm done really.

I am a diehard vintage tamiya buggy fan. I actually think these new cars might be pretty decent rigs. I wont buy one but i kinda like them for some reason. It may be the booze tho.
