Pictures of professionally made carbon fiber tub chassis
Does anyone have a professionally made rc10/rc10t carbon fiber tub chassis they can take close up pictures of?
I'm trying to see of there are fabric joins in the corner of the chassis or if the shape was slightly altered on the front, back and the draft of the sides.

Thanks. This helps me in understanding what is possible.
I have a way to go, but I am closer than I thought.

Huh 6 gear only fusion tub, I always thought they came out much later and were all drilled for a stealth as well.
Seeing the pics from these angles you also realize how thick these tubs were. Impressive

That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

Yeah, 6 gear only. And unfortunately, they're not "thick" where it really matters. That's why you see so many used ones with the arm mount holes ripped out.MarkyDents wrote: ↑Tue Jun 21, 2022 9:11 pm Huh 6 gear only fusion tub, I always thought they came out much later and were all drilled for a stealth as well.

Oh yes that’s very true and unfortunate and the same time. Such cool pieces though.

How thick does carbon fiber need to be to handle the suspension forces? Were the holes ripped out to the side, as if there wasn't enough material on the out side of the mounting holes?scr8p wrote: ↑Tue Jun 21, 2022 9:13 pmYeah, 6 gear only. It looks like I have very similar materials to what was used.

I think what mostly killed them were the arm mount screws coming loose. Even the alloy tubs suffered from elongated holes for the same reason.
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

Re: Pictures of professionally made carbon fiber tub chassis
Thanks for the detailed picture. That's what I thought. There isn't enough material on the outside of the mounting holes. The mounts should have been deeper in the chassis.MarkyDents wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 9:09 am Pic from an old thread 0D8C535C-D48C-4364-9D9C-538D41AD0B6D.jpeg
I get how the initial design was enough in the short arm, 6 gear nicad, days but the longer arms and faster speeds are too much for the soft 6061-t6 aluminum.
I'll have to see how much wider I can made the outside of the mounting holes. From other threads i have seen it should be rim 3/18 for a #8 hole. I'll also see if i can add extra thickness in just those areas.
