Can someone measure the ds dogbone 8867 length?
I'm still searching for a suitable dog bone replacement for the DS dogbone 8867
Looking at shapeways someone made a 8867 dogbone
https://www.shapeways.com/product/3V8ECJPJ9/team-associated-rc10-8867-dual-sport-dogbone?optionId=172100775&li=marketplace
the specs are
1.84 x 0.39 x 0.24 inches
(46.736 mm) x (10mm)x(6.3mm)
Since that is end to end it seems like there are some HPI parts in that range. (42,45,46,46.5mm)
How much can you be off by in dogbone length and still have it work?

As long as you have proper engagement through the suspension travel, it's fine.
I'd be just as concerned with finding bones with the correct ball and pin sizes. Those dimensions aren't as readily available.

The ball and pin size are at least measurable from existing different length rc10 bones . It very much appears the HPI bone are similar to the associated bones in terms of ball and pin size. HPI also helpfully writes the length and ball size on the bone description for many older parts.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 5:42 am As long as you have proper engagement through the suspension travel, it's fine.

I know that there will be a small amount of variation that can work. I am hoping to get what the stock length to know how far out of the spec I am going. There is a set of HPI bones at 41mm for $8 and at that price ,42mm at $13, 45mm at $20, 46.5 at $25. The lengths needed seem to exist, bit I'd like to be within about +/- 1mm.

RC10DS dog bone length is:
46mm or 1 and 13/16 inches
The width of the dog bone from pin to pin is:
10mm or 3/8 inch
(I don't believe I'm going to say this
) The size of the BALLS
are :
6mm or 2/8 inch

Awesome!
Is that length 46mm end to end or Pin to Pin?

Re: Can someone measure the ds dogbone 8867 length?
Since the pins sit in the center of the ball it would be about 40mm from the center of each pin to each other.
Looking at measurement 9- measurement 7 from the chart on thread
https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=47034&p=537340#p537340
the difference is 6mm measured on other rc10 bones.

Sure, you could do math and estimate.
Or just measure it and know for sure
Pin diameter is also important because between brands there is a difference, I've measured some that had a pin a smidge too large to fit into the associated slots.

Yeah.
Tamiya ball and pin size is slightly too large for AE cars.
