Hirosaka's Stealth RC10 used in Australia & Detroit Worlds
Re: Hirosaka's Stealth RC10 used in Australia & Detroit Worlds
Am I correct in that Masami used a Viper body on the Detroit ‘91 Stealth?
……but what Undertray did he cut up to fit? Has anyone worked that out?

Re: Hirosaka's Stealth RC10 used in Australia & Detroit Worlds
I feel we need to focus a little bit on the 1989 car in this thread. Much of what's been focused on for obvious reason has to do with the NIX91 builds.

1989 IFMAR's @ Sydney Australia "A" finals.
#1 Masami Hirosaka RC10GX
#2 Jay Halsey RC10GX
#3 Cliff Lett RC10GX
#5 Rick Wehlow RC10GX
1989 IFMAR's @ Sydney Australia "B" finals.
#1 Butch Kloeber RC10GX
#3 Rick Hohwart Not GX
Are there any pics of the other three GX cars?

Thanks Jason, That is a good pic of Jay's car!
Nice to see a pic of Rick's car although a bit dark.
So looks like three out of four drove Mirage bodies and all was equipped with Yokomo rear wheels.
Hard to determine if all drove the same tires.

Horrible pics. They're from a video on Youtube.
Masami, Halsey, Lett, Vehlow, and B main winner Kloeber. There is another one in the B main but I gotta try to figure out who it is.
Drescher was in the A main, but looks like he ran a standard RC10.

Re: Hirosaka's Stealth RC10 used in Australia & Detroit Worlds

Ha Ha Ha I spent saturday afternoon doing the same!

AFAIK Craig Drescher like you said ran the standard RC10 with the prototype stealth transmission. And I'm guessing, because I couldn't get a good view but I think it was Rick Hohwart with the other stealth in the B final. That still leaves one stealth car unaccounted for...

Re: Hirosaka's Stealth RC10 used in Australia & Detroit Worlds
So we have the following drivers at the -89 worlds driving RC10's
GB C. Drescher RC10 Graphite
GB R. Cull
GB M. Langridge
JP M. Hirosaka RC10GX
US J. Halsey RC10GX
US C. Lett RC10GX
US R. Wehlow RC10GX
US B. Kloeber RC10GX
US R. Hohwart RC10GX ?
Did Rick Hohwart drive a RC10GX and who drove the last RC10GX if there were seven cars for the worlds?
Here's a list of potential drivers (2WD) that I couldnt find team/car info on:
Chris McElroy
Darin Stump
Joe Schmitz
Gary Kyes
D. Jones
K. McElroy
M. Burnette
C. Allec
M. Ebert
W. Siler
Steve Dunn

Now based on that list who drove an RC10 in the 87 worlds A main? And received a Stealth car at the 91 worlds. Perhaps Rory Cull had one?

Re: Hirosaka's Stealth RC10 used in Australia & Detroit Worlds
I knew Rick Hohwart signed up on here awhile back, and went to look for any posts. I found this in his only post about a replica prp was doing of his Kyosho Lazer. From what he says here, I'm going to assume he did not have one of the Stealth cars.
My Kyosho 4wd cars were some of the best off-road cars I ever had. I was third at this WC and to this date it is my best Worlds finish. I wish I could be of more help in terms of the build. I have no recollection of the AE shocks. I was an AE driver at the time using the RC10. Unfortunately at this race I did not have access to any special parts but still finished in the top half of the B-main. I do think I ran "special" Yokomo tires, but no car parts. But the fact I was driving AE is probably why I used the AE shocks.

And if Drescher didn't have one, I don't think Rory would have had one either. But I can't confirm that.
