Yeah the weight jacks are awesome, and adjustable through the body. I thought the camber was adjustable with eccentrics but it’s actually the caster they allow you to change easily. I keep picking it up and looking at it

Yeah, I can see the holes in the body for a wrench.
Normally I'm a bit disappointed to see motor-on-axle but in this instance, I can fully understand why they've gone that direction so it's all good.
By chance, is the track bar height adjustable as well?
Any thoughts on a paint scheme - is the body polycarbonate?
Anyway, it's an interesting and very cool RC -- no doubt about it.

Track bar is not adjustable and on the wrong side from what I’ve been involved in but I still applaud the way they went about it. It’s carried over from the open wheel cars even though I’m pretty sure they still use a jacobs ladder.

Lots of wraps available, I’ll probably go that route. I’d like to find a Red Farmer theme wrap, but might settle for Bloomer if I have to

Picked up a set of Mugen Bulldog parts , 4 wheel axles , 2 dogbones , a pair of bushings and the guy found a wheel and tire not in the auction but he threw it in free :D nice guy !
The wheel was covered in the kind of paint the Victorians used on iron fence railings  I cleaned off the paint before I took the pictures .

haha... Yeah, I probably should but I probably won't. No upgrades are planned for this one, just running the kit motor and ESC until something breaks.

Every Tamiya has its weak point, doesn't it. It's almost like they are engineered to fail. I sorta feel guilty buying one -- like I'm rewarding mediocrity. Anyway, I've always like this truck and just never got around to buying one until now.

An old high school buddy of mine race a BF back when they were new and he did really well with it as I recall. I don't remember if his had the MIP diff but probably did. Those crazy hex drive dog bones were a nightmare. This ones got CV joints.

If it's just for a runner/basher, these generic shocks from this seller will do quite nicely. The seller has various Optima repro parts, but the shocks I believe are just generic ones that happen to be the correct length, they're not specific to the Optima.

That's unfortunate that the Xtra Speed parts are no longer available...I wonder what happened with those?

It will be a light runner and I saw those gold shocks but the xtra speed ones look just like the kyosho golds. I might just put on
Associated gold shocks.

Finally got a chance to get into the office and pick up a few packages.... nothing much, just some new stock Mini tyres, and a couple of packs of Associated B2/B3 blue screws.

I probably won't get a chance to try and dig up my old FrankenOptima until Thanksgiving weekend, and that seems like way too long to wait. Had to get a re-re while the getting is still good, just to scratch that itch.
