Comical Grasshopper

Post by juicedcoupe »

I know it isn't technically vintage. But it is a WR02, and they are from the late (late, late) 90's. And,........ its a Grasshopper.

I'm not gonna do a step by step, because thats just boring. But here are some along the way pictures along with some changes I made.

Changes/mods:
- Real Tamiya bearings, from an ebay chop shop.
- Tamiya aluminum motor guard/heat sink.
- Robinson Racing 20t 0.6 mod pinion
- Tamiya HD servo saver with XSpede aluminum arm.
- Yeah Racing front turnbuckle set.
- Yeah Racing CVD's.

Electronics:
- Sanwa MX-A transmitter, Tamiya TRU-01 receiver, and Kyosho KS-5031 servo.
- Tamiya TBLE-02 esc and Trinity Revenge of the Monster stock motor.

Here's the Kyosho servo, Tamiya servo saver, XSpede plate, and Yeah Racing turnbuckles.

Then are the CVA shocks. I used red silicone o rings and 35wt Associated oil instead of the kit stuff.

Cheap or not, you gotta love CVA's. Super smooth and work like a dream.

Coming together. You might notice the nerf bars are on wrong, I had to fix that.

Got the electronics and driver mounted. I hate painting those driver figures.

Since I used a vintage receiver, I had to mount it up front. There just isn't room in back.

And finished. Painted in Duratrax bright white.

Love it, inspired idea to produce these!
