Do I need different tired lengths with the rpm long cups

Post by JosephS »

I’ve been reading through the forum history on this and I keep seeing reference to tie-rod length and the rpm long cups.

I’ve already purchased the long cups in white for my rc10 team car build and I am going to to purchase the Lunsford worlds kit tie-rods. Can I just thread them deep, or will the links be to long?

They will be way too long. Those are much longer than the AE or Lunsford cups.

Try it out. If they are too long, trim them with a hobby knife to suit the turnbuckles.

This is all three sizes.

The AE 6274 cups are 16mm OAL, 6mm wide, and have 9mm thread depth. These were recently discontinued but can still be found.

The standard RPM cup is 20mm OAL, 7.5mm wide, and have 13mm thread depth.

The long RPM cup is 26mm OAL, 7.5mm wide, and have 19mm thread depth. They also have additional clearance on the bottom for travel.

associated also made the low friction versions, which are narrow like the ones shown, with a longer shank:
