XXX-NT Engine Choices
XXX-NT Engine Choices
Hello All,
The original Mach .15 engine in my xxx-nt is no longer salvageable so I'm looking for a replacement to get it going again. I was wondering what a good replacement engine would be? I'd like something that makes decent power that's easy to run and especially easy to find. All of the reading I've done dates mostly back to the original release of the vehicle and the engines suggested as upgrades are no longer available.
Ideally the engine would be a direct replacement and I wouldn't need to do much to get it to fit, but if that isnt an option, let me know what is please.
Thanks.

Does your truck require a short crankshaft like the GT?

To be honest, I'm not sure but I found this as the part listed for the engine LOSR6593 P/S SG Crankshaft: Mach 15RE. A picture of the replacement here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Losi-Mach-15RE-P-S-SG-Crankshaft-LOSR6593-Dynamite-Nitro-Engine/153681150296
Does that help?

I’m not sure why that part description list it as an SG shaft. It looks like a standard crank to me, unless that glare is hiding the extra bit passed the threads I can’t see. Basically any engine with a standard crank should work. You can just trim the crank with a dremel if needed from there. I do not know if the XXXNT uses the cut crank, I know the GTX and NXT do though.

Not sure either, that was right out of the Losi manual. Maybe a miss print or something, as it definelty does not look like the SG style you pictured.romulus22 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 2:16 pm I’m not sure why that part description list it as an SG shaft. From what I've read than any rear exhaust engine with a rotary carb would drop right in? Does anyone have a website that breaks motors down by that information? My LHS website doesn't allow me to search by much other than size.

Re: XXX-NT Engine Choices
Most all new popular engines sold on hobby sites are SG shaft engines nowadays. I took a glance at a few popular sites and didn’t see one standard crank engine. eBay is about your best place to find a replacement engine. I’ll always recommend the Traxxas TRX 15, as it’s a proven engine with decent power and good reliability. It can be had with the standard crank and even the pre cut crank if that the one you need. If you search ebay you can find that engine from many different sellers.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll keep an eye out for engine deals and see what I can do.
In my searching I did come across some parts (mainly a motor mount) to convert to electric so i may have a look into that as well.
