Should Dadio be commissioned to engineer 3D printed parts for a 4WD Lunch Box conversion?

Yes, I'd buy them!

4wd Lunchbox?

Post by coxbros1 »

Dadio has the skills to pay the bills....who agrees that it would be epic if he made a 4wd Lunchbox? I dont mean take a 4wd chassis and throw a Lunchbox body on it. I am talk'n 3d print parts to make a stock Lunchy chassis 4wd. I think scr8p needs to start a poll....if he has the nads  Me and The Diamond One have a brand new complete Lunchbox we could contribute if we could afford shipping to 45mi from London (MI7) and if he would agree to return when its done....thoughts? (good/bad) GO------->
It would win him BOTY (AE politics aside) and he would be set for life!
Heres the doner:

There were a couple threads about some guys from Japan that made 4 wheel drive grasshoppers. It's not a hard jump to use a lunch box chassis.

I made a 4WD Lunch Box in the '90s! I mounted another gearbox in the front, and the whole thing pivoted to steer. I can't remember how I did it exactly. I was even videotaped driving it around the backyard in the snow. That brings back some fond memories.

I added a poll to this thread for ya. Did I word it accurately?

I for one would certainly buy the conversion.

ESP made a full ClodZilla'esq conversion for the Lunch Box but it retained the 2WD. There's only one in existence which I own. Unfortunately it's been all apart in a box for the last 15 years.

Personally, I believe that only people with some type of attachment to them will be truly interested.

I'm not one of those people. I always thought that the body looked cool but that the mechanicals were truly lacking. I put the Blackfoot in a similar category.

And please don't take this as a jab at the LB or the idea. I'm all about building whatever you want. But I don't personally see the appeal.

What about just using an MF01X with a LB body? then a few mods to allow the LB wheel and tire package. No, it's not vintage, but yes - you get independent suspension. Albeit with stubby little arms. I think there are options to improve the track width too. WR02(?) arms or something.

Unfortunately just throwing a body and wheels on another chassis is out of the question

Oh - sorry I read the post last night and put that reply in this morning without rereading. You had already said that. Ever do that at work?

IDK I think that LB would need some different tires and wheels anyway and maybe a bit of a wheelbase stretch.
