Re: #6036 Graphite Team Cars
Also I found some parts I forgot I had. I had already posted some pics of the wheels asking about their make.

Unfortunately it seems as though I’m missing one proline front wheel somehow.

Re: #6036 Graphite Team Cars
The IMEX Olympic Tread tires are cool and all but I’d much rather see a more traditional off-road tread setup on the A arm car. I think some swapping around is in order. Good thing the IMEX tires were never glued to the original TQ wheels.

Re: #6036 Graphite Team Cars
I’m very much considering dying all the purple parts black on both of these cars.
Can I get a vote going on keeping them purple or dying black ?
I’m really on the fence here.

Personally, I'd do black.
Any of my nylon that won't cleanup white, gets turned back. No other option.

Re: #6036 Graphite Team Cars
Really not a fan of purple but black is so common.
If it were mine, I'd probably not dye the parts.
Just my two cents.
I really wish someone would invent a dye removal product that actually works.

Re: #6036 Graphite Team Cars
I would dye the parts black if they aren't really nicely dyed purple. In other words if they are blotchy or ground down where you can see the natural bleeding through. Otherwise it's not that common to see nicely dyed parts and I think would be more suitable to a period restoration.

Re: #6036 Graphite Team Cars
Valid point about the dye job, they are definitely not blotchy…
Some pieces are darker then others.
Not much bottom damage or scraping because of how little they were used.
I kinda feel like if I do dye these earlier cars black it’ll sorta take away from the late team graphite I recently acquired that’s got all black parts.
Extremely happy to finally find one as well.
I guess I’ve had them so long I’m just tired of seeing them with the purple parts….
From the outside looking in though if say they were someone else’s I’d say to leave them alone.
What if I try to even out the color difference ?
What dye ?
What purple ?
I’d definitely be very concerned about getting wrong. These were done back when they were built new.

Re: #6036 Graphite Team Cars
Just came across this in the January 93’ issue of RCCA. Yes these aren’t for an RC10 but it does show that they may very well had been a set. Their shafts are so long it must have been a real chore to thread them on when new.... almost covering the entire turnbuckle.
I've got a few that came on a parts car from a dirt oval guy.
In the pic, the bottom one is commonly available Du-Bro end for comparison. Although, I do have some older (20+ years) Du-Bro ends that look more like that.
