RC12e restoration
I've finally started working on this RC12e I purchased about two years ago. There's nothing broken on it, so it's basically just a clean-up. Here are some photos I took of it last night before starting any work on it. Should've saved the effort of the production for when it's restored, but hey!
As you can see, it came with an Acoms Radio in pristine condition, also in it's box, with the manuals etc for both items, and, of course, the original Associated 05 motor which squeaks when you turn it.
What I really want to do is repaint the body. It is mostly in good shape (for my standards). The mounting holes have been enlarged, either by wear and tear, or intentionally, and one has a slight crack, the wheel arches can be filed a little smoother, and it has scuff marks all around, but I think it can look good and I don't like buying stuff; I'd rather reuse this body.
I'm also considering whitening the plastics, but I'm far away from any replacements and I have my reservations. I'll try it on some spare body post first I think.
This is what it looked like before I started stripping the paint:
The original paint was clearly not for lexan since it gave me no trouble at all with a little nitro fluid. I love it when that happens.
And here it is completely stripped. I hope I can buff off some of the scuff marks.

Re: RC12e restoration
Just use nitro fuel to partially remove the paint from the body where you want it see-through.
Kidding aside, take photos 2 and 3 into a photo editing application, put photo 3 on the top layer and mask out or delete the part you want to show through to the bottom image.
EDIT: you need two photos (body on and body off) from the same angle.
