Ultima Pro (1989) Restore - w/Pics

Hello Team!

I’ve been researching ways to upgrade And USE my Ultima and happy that I found this site. This kit was a gift from my fiancé when we were dating 30 years ago. We are still married.... hell yeah!

Happy to hear any advice on this journey. I will start by posting my current state and what I’ve done so far.

Steering taken down and all parts polished.
Changed from original Futaba [1975 purchased for RC plane) and servos to Futaba 3PRKA and steering servo.
Went brushless Kinexsis 4000 ESC Combo.
Replaced broken upper deck (eBay to the rescue)
Misplaced the motor guard, will need to locate a replacement.

Wow, that Ultima Pro (3117) looks to be in excellent condition! Are there even any scratches on those Gold shocks?

You are in luck since the parts provided by the recently re-released Ultima 2019 could be used as replacements/upgrades.

The new gearbox with upgraded internal metal gears and slipper clutch might be a good option combined with modern LiPo / brushless electronics?
