1995 Yokomo YZ-10 Pavidis Restoration (un-completed)
NOTE: Much later I discovered that the chassis brace and shock towers on this car likely point towards it being a 1997 car and not a 1995 as I had originally thought.
While I have stalled on both the 1994 box art and the Kyosho Burns I was rebuilding I stumbled across a poorly listed 95 Yokomo; although from the pictures it appear to be pretty beat, at worst it was going to help me assemble another partial complete I had in a bin in the basement and I ended up paying more than I likely should have.
I started off with a total tear down and was a little disappointed to discover that the entire front of the car was in really poor shape and had likely been in a bad front end crash. The front diff assembly was mangled, the long screws holding it all together bent beyond use, front arms look like they were chewed on by a wild animal etc... here is what I discovered:

Re: 1995 Yokomo YZ-10 Pavidis Restoration
Ended up dragging every 94 and 95 bit I could find in my bin from the basement and threw it all down to take stock of what I had. It is my hope that I will be able to finish one really decent 95 and possibly have some sort of 94/95 hybrid runner but if that fails I’ll sell off the bits so that perhaps some one else can finish a project or two like I have been able to:

Re: 1995 Yokomo YZ-10 Pavidis Restoration
Once everything was stripped down to the basics I decided to do a bit of a parts shoot out of sorts, comparing everything I have and going with whatever was in the best shape or was the most genuine to the original car (if possible).
I will be creeping a lot of 95 builds on this site as I don’t exactly know what an out of the box 95 looked like as a number of build reference Mark Pavidis’s winning car (are they one in the same or was Marks car a modified version of the box stock 95?)
Starting with available chassis and motor mounts, it was a forgone conclusion and although I really like the blue anodized version I assume the other is the stock mount.

With the motor mount attached I grabbed the front diff mounts that I could find and there really wasn’t much to choose from, essentially one good and one bad/broken set:

Re: 1995 Yokomo YZ-10 Pavidis Restoration
With the front all sorted out I started to take a look at the rear and came across something odd. I don’t really know what to call them, the L shaped rear carriers/hinge mounts; see last picture below. The outside pair I assume are the 95’s and the inside pair are from the 94 (or is it the other way around?) anyone hazard a more educated guess than mine?

After starring at a bunch of blurry pictures I have assumed the thinner versions are those stock to the rear differential housing / carrier mounts and threw them on:

Then it was time to take a look at the front and rear diffs that I had available. Decided to clean up the ones I recent got on the parts car and they turned out pretty good all thing considered:

With the diffs thrown in, next was to choose a belt pulley slipper assembly and taking a look at the two I have it may require a disassembly and merging of the two looking at some of the wear on the teeth:

Re: 1995 Yokomo YZ-10 Pavidis Restoration
After a bit of deliberation and looking at pictures of Kenooze’s Pavidis build I settled on the following combination. There were some subtle differences in size and colour so I went with what looked the most accurate:

Arm-a-geddon!!!!
Ok I have been waiting almost a day to use that
Picked the best fronts and rears, cleaned them up with a toothbrush and some soapy water and mounted them up.

Next stop front and rear diff covers, not the best choice but cleaned up the best front and best rear and threw them on...

Re: 1995 Yokomo YZ-10 Pavidis Restoration
Had a question for the experts hoping they could shed some light on something:
The top chassis brace/plate, although I ended up mounting the original on the car I was curious about the other one...appears really well made, possibly aluminium? Definitely a metal that appears to have been painted black, anyone ever see anything like it before?

Next stop shock towers, again I went with what I assume are the originals but the other pair again I have not seen before, they seem well made but were they potentially aftermarket for the 94?

Very nice work so far!
Wish I could help with your questions, but I don't know anything about these post 834B Yoks.

I can't be of much help either, but I love the build and thanks for taking such nice assembly pics. I have 870c buggies but cant afford the later models. I don't do much with them anyway other than pull the pieces out of the box and ogle them from time to time
