Identifying Vintage Motors

Post by NeonNoodle »

Any guidance on how to ID vintage motors that you have in hand? Like, I have a "Revenge of the Monster" motor that according to the excellent Ultimate Vintage Brushed Motor Reference Guide in this subforum is a Trinity motor, but nowhere on the motor does it say Trinity. Another example, I have a "Pocket Rocket" motor, but apparently there are at least 5 variations of Pocket Rockets but this motor I have says nothing on it other than Pocket Rocket. How do I know what version it is?

Thanks...did see that. I guess what I'm asking is if there's a way to ID a motor aside from its can's sticker? Are there any other marking manufacturers put on their motors to designate things like # of turns?

Not always, but I had several with it written on the armature with a marker.

On many of the stock motors, look for visual clues. Different cans and endbell designs were often used on different iterations.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.
