My Kyosho Lazer ZX-R

Post by BattleTrak »

Bitd..I always wanted one of these and finally found a clean mk 1 version for a good price. It has light-medium wear, a few missing pieces, modifications and repairs..but very nice overall. The body is a well done box art scheme from 2017. I have been reviewing the manuals and variations of this car..ordered a bunch of new parts and going to restore it. The ball diffs are very gritty and need rebuilt. The wheels look like they’re from an RB5? Not sure what the battery straps are from either.. Any advice on restoring and mods would be appreciated!

Nice and clean, the battery straps are Schumacher Procat/bosscat items, plenty of atermarket carbon at fibrelyte in the uk if you want to go that way, im playing with an original ZX at the moment.
I got some kyosho reproduction pepper pot style wheels that are resized to 2.2" for modern tyres from Factory works in the UK.
Good luck with your build

Man these are my favorite cars. Im working on building my collection around the variations of the Lazer. I always thought they were the coolest looking cars from ~`90. Did you score this locally?

That’s a beautiful car.

Just yesterday I came across someone local selling a “Lazer”; no other details other than it’s in great condition. He’ll be sending me photos tomorrow. These were never imported here, and I’m willing to bet it’s the only one in the country.
I am so hoping, first, it’s not a Sport or one of the economy models, and second, it’s in as good a condition as yours. Crossing my fingers, ‘cause he’s only asking $60 for it.

Enjoy the restoration!

No, I found it online at another forum.

I have been slowly accumulating the needed parts.. took a while to find the proper wheels and tires!! ..and overseas shipping it terribly slow right now.. Hopefully will be starting the tear down and restoration soon.
