That Australian site is showing September 30 as a release date & has a pre-order price of closer to $280 USD, so it might be worth holding off on the pre-ordering. Oh wait... never mind, forget I said anything... just don't clean 'em out before I get my hands on one .. or three !

Re: Now people can't stop talking about the 1/12th Fantom 4wd re-re!!! :)
While day-dreaming about the equipment I want to buy for my new Fantom EP once I can get my hands on one, I noticed the 6-cell stick pack in all of the promo pics....I've always used 6C NiCd batteries in my Kyosho 1/12, except for my 'modern' Plazma RA, which takes a 1C LiPo. Unless I missed it, everything I've read about the new Fantom includes recommendations for an ESC & motor, but nothing about batteries.
This would be my 2nd 'Legendary Series' purchase, and I think for the most part, their re-releases do a great job of balancing nostalgia with enhancements that allow for the use of modern components. Back in the olden days, Kyosho made a few batteries that were perfectly suited to certain models....like those old saddle packs for my Ultima Pro (attached). I'm not expecting a special 'modern' battery designed just for the Fantom, but am wondering about any adjustments I'd have to make to accommodate a 1C LiPo, or if that's a bad idea altogether, and I should just be looking for a 6-cell NiMH...
Anyone thought about the ideal battery for this model?

I'll be using a 2s oval ended lipo. 1/12th scale in Australia was always 7.2v nicad up to and just after the last original run of national titles ending in 1988. Seems fitting. I don't think using a one cell lipo would be as much fun with this re-release.

Nice looking car but the in box presentation has been cheapened quite a bit. One body, one bag o parts and tires thrown in. Very underwhelming.

True, but if packaging it like that makes it more affordable, that's how I'd prefer it. I don't care how it looks inside the box, I only care how it looks built...but I'm not a collector.

I guess I would agree. Fancy packaging is nice but I would never allow the lack of it to influence my purchase decisions.
If I really like the car, I'll buy it even if arrives in a paper bag.

One thing I always liked about Kyosho was their LeMans motors. They look like fine jewelry!

... and produced similar horse power.
Honestly, I tried to race a couple LeMans motors bitd and had no luck with them.
I'll agree, they do look amazing. It appears that you can swap green (T) for blue (S)?
Everything Kyosho makes is top notch! Their modern brushless motors are probably extremely good. I have a Fazer Mk2 RTR road car and the included radio system is the absolute finest for any RTR that I've seen.
Mmmmmmmm money!

Yep, the motor comes in the green livery and the blue parts are included if you prefer the 480S. Personally, I would rather Kyosho made both of each, saving me a few dollars and having the 480S paraphernalia sitting in a box for the rest of my life.

Where are these being offered for sale? Will they be available in the US? Can’t seem to find them listed in the usual places. Thanks.
The motor, I mean. The car, I can find.

Clever two-for-one marketing. Reduce sku's by one and increase inventory turnover. Uncertain times so gotta think lean - I guess.
