5-link jrx2 runner
Getting ready to finally start my jrx2 runner build. I'm going to be making a fully turnbuckle 5-link.

Nice. I am interested in seeing how you do the side links because I can’t find any for my build. Those Sabula tech parts are cool aren’t they?

Re: 5-link jrx2 runner
So far it's coming along nicely I need to dye some parts for the rear 5 link before I can assemble it, I bet you can't guess what color
. The rear bulkhead is 3d printed by me and this is what allows the rear to be completely made of Turnbuckles.
The hole that would normally capture the hinge pin is now smaller to accept a screw. It does have different appearance but geometrically speaking it is identical. I also got a Trinity 24k 17.5 motor I have no idea if it is any good but boy does it look cool!

Re: 5-link jrx2 runner
So good news and bad news. Bad news is the dye for the rear links won't be here till May. Good news is I have a set of black links I can put on for the time being so here is it built up.
The rear suspension now has zero slop I'm actually very surprised how good it feels. I'm very excited to get it out to the track and run it.-

Wow, I've benn thinking about this for years and you just did it! Where did you get those ball ends for the side links? Specs and manufacturer please? Are you going to sell that rear bukhead on shapeways for us? More detail please and great work!

Re: 5-link jrx2 runner
I planned on posting my design to thingiverse. The current one will only work if you have sabula tech esc tray so I'd like to make one that will work without one of those if someone wants to do that. I would like to also put it on Shapeways as well I've never posted anything to there so we will see how it works

Re: 5-link jrx2 runner
The links are Traxxas believe it or not, I'll have to find the part number, they come as a set. The bottom link is a cut down Mugen 1/8 buggy link it works well but I'm on the look out for something better. I would just 3d print something but as this is a runner I don't think if it would be strong enough. Really the only issue with the Mugen link is that because of the way the shock mounts when the link rotates it allows a little up and down movement it's not play and when the car is on the ground it can't move so I don't see it being a handling issue the solution would be to put a piece of brass rod where the ball would go to stop this movement but as far as play this completely eliminates it.

Re: 5-link jrx2 runner
These are the part numbers and quantities for the links
2 Traxxas 3644
1 Traxxas 3645
1 Mugen MUGE2159
1 Mugen MUGE0811-B
1 Mugen MUGC0107D
For anyone that tries to copy this, all the Mugen part numbers can sometimes be sold a set on eBay this makes it a little cheaper just a heads up. Also one side of the Mugen turnbuckle has to be shortened as well as the hole drilled for the shock to mount on in the rodend. Here is the part number for the shock rod end I used
1 RC 4WD Z-S0403
2 Traxxas 3644
1 Traxxas 3645
1 Mugen MUGE2159
1 Mugen MUGE0811-B
1 Mugen MUGC0107D

Re: 5-link jrx2 runner
I have a question for you guys so I'm trying to decide on front tires. The best tires for the tracks around me are aka gridiron's but not many people run 2wd buggy so I'm not sure about front tires. The track surface is med to low traction with a lose layer on top and semi hard under layer. I was thinking maybe 3 ribs because the don't make gridiron's for the front what do you guys think?

Re: 5-link jrx2 runner
That's great, off the shelf stuff. Nice detective work figuring all that out. Please post when your bukheads are available for 3D print? Wish I could help on tires. Without the bulkhead though it looks like the 2 sidelinks coudl be repalced with your set up. I always wondered how playing with those lengths a bit would affect handling.
