Mud Blaster Brushless/Lipo Conversion help

Post by ReDBaRoN »

Hey folks,

New to the forum, lots of great info on here!

I have an original Mud Blaster which has gone through some changes over the years (Trackmaster Turbo Glide, Thorp dog bones, Tekin SC, Trinity Monster Horsepower motor, aluminum oiled shocks), but hasn’t really been used for the last 25 years or so.

The Telkin TSC410S speed control doesn’t have reverse, and that’s not going to work for bashing, so I’m looking to do the Lipo and Brushless conversion, but don’t know where to start.

I have already received the MIP diff (Trackmaster diff was missing the diff screw and I lost a dog bone somewhere along the way), and the Tamiya universal axels. I would be looking for whatever else I need to get this puppy running its best. I would probably also get a new transmitter/receiver, my kids are making fun of me with my Futaba Attack FP-T2NBL and it’s 3 foot long antenna.

Thanks for any suggestions you can give.

The couple times I tried to keep my old futaba am or fm radios in use after I converted to brushless/lipo, I had bad glitching problems and a total lack of control 10ft from the car. Others may know how to avoid this, but with the low cost of decent radios these days, I switched to 2.4 radios and left the old Magnums for my cars with brushed setups.

Any cheap brushless esc/motor combo on ebay will work. Stayed sensored if u can, they are smoother....if u really want decent stuff go name brand, HobbyWing stuff is excellent. I prolly wouldnt get more than a 10.5 for that, if u want the balldiff to last prolly 13.5. I am currently assembling a rere Monstee Beetle, bearings, Mip diff....i have a Reedy competition 510R esc i am gonna try with a 21.5. Add boost and turbo with esc and it will still fly! Good luck, Mud Blasters are very cool vintage trucks
