Re: Kyosho Turbo Burns - New Rebuild
^ That paint looks great! I especially like the look of the black wheels. It makes me want to build another Turbo Burns just so I can mount up some black wheels. Such a clean and stealth look. Thanks for posting your pics.

Thanks for the comment Lavigna.
To have yourself and Lexster, kyosho legends, compliment my build makes all the sweeter.

Re: Kyosho Turbo Burns - New Rebuild
I still haven't gotten around to painting the body, but I did take some outdoor pictures to show off the SCC configuration. The clear body sort of looks cool. It changes depending on the lighting conditions.
The last part I am looking for this build are Chrono Racing aluminum center diff mounts.

That is a piece of art!
Outdoor photographs really do it justice.
Think I’m going to have to hunt out another set of rear wheels for the front, love the look.

Re: Kyosho Turbo Burns - New Rebuild
Big upgrade coming for this car. I'm just waiting on the mailman...
In the meantime, I want to share some pictures of a NIB Turbo Burns I received last year. No plans to build it now. Just honored to own one.

Re: Kyosho Turbo Burns - New Rebuild
A HUGE Thank You to Emii Audubert of Chrono Racing. She sent me the last pieces I need to complete this buggy - Chrono Racing center diff aluminum mounts!
I have been looking for these aluminum mounts since I started this build. They are quite hard to find, especially in the USA.
Chrono Racing is a very cool company in Europe. Emii's father started the company many years ago, but unfortunately died last year. Emii is a RC Racer, and does amazing paintwork on bodies. Please check out her Facebook page Emii Design.
She also sent a very cool engine cooling head, a third mount, and Chrono decals. How cool are the decals? I can't wait to get the body painted and slap some on. The Chrono engine head will be going on another build. I just can't remove that gorgeous OS EX blue head. It's so iconic to the Turbo Burns.
As you can see, I actually received 3 diff mounts. Apparently they can be setup with 2 mounts forward of the center diff. I have only seen this on one buggy, and the pictures aren't super clear. I think this provides separate braking for front and rear wheels. It seems to require a complete change of the electronics on the chassis, and gets rid of the radio plate. If anyone knows more about this setup, please let me know. For now I will just be using 2 mounts, like stock.
I decided to polish the mounts. You can see the difference. They simply install in place of the plastic stock pieces. I have always thought these aluminum mounts looked so cool.
While I had things apart, and to make Lexster76 happy, I swapped out a lot of the visible SS screws for the original hardware. This gives it a more vintage look. I also added a few dress up washers.

Re: Kyosho Turbo Burns - New Rebuild
*Edit - I just realized that I received 2 of the rear mounts, but the pictures below show 2 of the front mounts are needed if you want to run this style of dual brakes. Maybe it was an oversight. I'm not planning on making any changes anyway. *
These old photos show the 3 mount setup. It looks like it could be front and rear brakes? If so, this is a much more robust solution than what Kyosho came up with (shown on my car). However it seems to require a complete change of the chassis layout.
I'm sure Emii knows, but there is a language barrier, so I haven't been able to ask.

Re: Kyosho Turbo Burns - New Rebuild
Hi Lavigna,
somehow I missed your previous posts and just caught up after seeing today's update message.
Congratulations on finding the NIB kit, and thanks for reaching out to Chrono Racing to bring the community great pictures and information on these incredibly rare parts! It really is invaluable information for the community.
I don't believe I have seen those pictures of the Chrono T. Burns before. That is an interesting layout they came up with without the radio tray, and I wonder where that carbon plate came from? Is that also a Chrono part?
Thanks for putting back some of the original hardware.

Re: Kyosho Turbo Burns - New Rebuild
Chrono Racing made a special chassis that allowed this 3 mount setup and front/rear brakes indeed => https://www.facebook.com/chronoracingteam/photos/kit-frein-avant-pour-burns-et-turbo-burns-culasse-chono-racing-et-calle-moteur-m/799005726884569/Lavigna wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 2:11 am *Edit - I just realized that I received 2 of the rear mounts, but the pictures below show 2 of the front mounts are needed if you want to run this style of dual brakes. Thanks for posting. I've never seen that picture before. It gives a pretty clear view of their chassis as well as the brake setup.blast wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 4:45 pm

Re: Kyosho Turbo Burns - New Rebuild
I wanted to share this brand new in box OS 21 EX-B engine. I was very lucky and happened across it the other night. These don't come up for sale often, especially NIB. It was a bit dusty but cleaned up quite easily. I never thought I would find a brand new one. I'm not sure what to even do with it yet, lol.
