Re: My first rc10!
If the nyloc part of the nut isn’t on the shaft something isn’t assembled correctly. I would check with making sure the diff ring is on the inner hub properly. That’s the one behind the gear. If the diff action is good it should be in place, but it’s a easy area to miss. Also make sure the thrust bearing between the internal gears has the proper thrust washers. One thick and one thin. Make sure the one with the large hole is properly fit into the delrin bushing. I’d start with those things and if they all check out then it may require some digging.
The nut is 5/40 thread by the way. Make sure you are using a fresh nut or it can back off easily.

Re: My first rc10!
Just took it apart, checked it, reset it, and the nut is on further now. Not sure why. Still feels quite tight, but smooth, so ill see how it runs in.

You’re doing a great job of this, they are unique and extremely iconic cars to build/rebuild, keep it up

Re: My first rc10!
Thanks
This and the tamiya grasshopper are the most iconic cars to me.
Im not even bothered aboit the black parts anymore.
I found an old bottle of associated shock oil with the cadillac address in my tool box so didnt even need to put tamiya oil in it
It does however currently have a dynatech motor in it. Ill find something more appropriate later.
Tyres get glued tonight and then ill finalise my old school paint scheme.

Re: My first rc10!
Been doing a few bits here and there, this is where its at right now.

Had to make some nose tubes, which got done today, so now the body is almost finished being trimmed i guess i should decide how to paint it. Ive drawn loads of different designs on it, planning on a black and red scheme, but might just go box art.
Got the JC tyres glued to the original wheels. Fronts were quite easy, rears were a nightmare. Not very neat, but they will be run so main priority was keeping them on!
Not decided on motor yet. Not really got anything that properly suits. Current options are a mid/late 90s 12x5 demon, a 17t tamiya dynatech 01r, or a parma cyclone stock 27t from 1991 ish.
I really want a period motor in it but not really sure how fast i want it. Ill probably run it with the cyclone, then try the dynatech and see how it feels. Then look for something period and preferably made in the UK.
Might get a period esc too if i decide to keep the motor mild.

Re: My first rc10!
Body is painted, wing will stay clear.
Its not great, first time ive done more than one colour, but suitably old school and looks good from a couple of foot away.

Looks like ill have more motor choices tomorrow and possibly a few period esc i could run if i wanted.
