It's in Shawnee OK at the moment.
Eager to see if trans is pre-assembled and how the critical dimensions for the new parts compare to the vintage ones.
I got an early model and the trans wasn't built, neither where the shocks,
it didn't come with any Diff or Shock oil which was surprising,
it was an excellent build, only upgrade would be bearings for the steering system.

Very nice!!

FedEx says my "care package" is on the truck for delivery -- ETA between 2:45 and 5:20 this afternoon.
I have most of my chores done so the evening is clear to dive into this thing when it arrives.

Indeed, the gearbox is not pre-assembled -- not even the diff.

Wow, compared to the 4wd cars, this box seems sparse. I think they could have packaged this one in a much smaller box (1/3 of the box is empty).

Edit: Oops, those aren't universals - ordinary dog bones.

Would be nice if they repro'd the 1987 World Champ key-chain that was included in the original kits after the 1987 IFMAR race.

I don't remember the key chain, but that was a very long time ago.
I've misidentified the universals; they're actually just ordinary dog bones that have been loosely assembled in the package.
The sticker set looks nice (two pages).

Got mine in the mail today. I had seen in an article that the trans was going to be pre-built. I’m glad to see that it’s not

Just got the upper chassis drawn and ready to cut. These will look nice in carbon. I should probably start building mine lol

Well, that was quick. You've even brought back the switch mount - very nice!!
So many subtle differences between the re-re and original but I've found nothing so far that would prevent mixing of parts. The gearbox isn't flat on the bottom so this will make mounting it on a flat plate a little more challenging, but not impossible. I like the new motor wire capturing system. Back in the day they might have included an extra zip-tie. I also like the adjustable rear toe. My copy does include shock oil.
Did you notice the rear bulkhead; there are two sets of mounting holes for the upper deck about 7mm apart -- could this mean that a longer wheelbase version is coming?

Stopped by Lunsford and they now have the spec on hand for rere Ultima kits 8) they are not going to do hingepin, the sizes are very non standard. Of course the punisher series is a better fit and strength, but the classics just look so much better imo!

Here is my mostly finished build. Just need to clean up wiring.

Looks great! What are you using for wing mounts?

Just modern mounts, those exact ones are off the Associated b5m but yokomo and Kyosho have the same bolt pattern.

Re: Ultima 2019

A couple differences I've noticed with the new rear arms:
They've reduced the overall width of the arm at the inboard hinge pin end to allow for a spacer - this spacer provides about 3mm of wheelbase adjustment.
Also (and this is true for the Optima re-re as well), they've moved the edge of a web (running adjacent to the upright) inboard about 1.5mm to accommodate the new, larger, adjustable toe-in, upright (a.k.a. hub carrier). So, if a new upright is paired with a vintage arm, you will need to mod the arm to add some clearance in this area. Fortunately, Kyosho has done a good job combining parts on the new parts trees (arms are molded with uprights on tree UT004) which should make them available for purchase collectively so this is unlikely to become a serious issue for anyone. My only regret is that they didn't also mold the steering arms on UT004 - these are molded with bulkheads on UT001. I guess they've gone this route because the steering arms are sided while the parts on UT004 are not.
