Re: Pinging
That's what I thought but wasn't sure as it's been gone for over a year now.
It was a nice feature but had several problems that the creator wasn't interested in fixing. Then after the next board upgrade it was no longer compatible anyway so it was dropped. I installed the 'Thanks' system in its place. Here's the post for reference: https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?p=491485#p491485
It was recently made compatible with the latest board version again but I see it still has some issues. I don't know if it's worth installing this time around due to the fact. Also if I have to remove it again, there will be a lot of posts with @username in them that no longer do anything.

Somehow I hadn't noticed it had disappeared quite a while ago already

@Lonestar
Ah what the heck. I reinstalled it again as I know it was a popular feature. I had to tweak it a bit to make it work better but nevertheless it's back. All member groups can use it besides Regular Members.

You're welcome.
You just have to make sure the username is between the mention tags like so:
When you type the @ symbol and start typing the username, select the name from the list and it automatically wraps it in the tags.
