Notching diff rings

Post by GeneralZod »

I finished installing diff pins in the RC10LS. I have many good diff rings laying around and would like to notch them but I was wondering what is the best method to accomplish this. I am tired of super gluing the rings to the hubs and gluing my fingers together.

Success! I tried the Dremel with a thin cut off disk and very carefully put a cut on both sides of the ring until the pin fit snugly in the notch. Now I will mass produce some notched diff rings!

Nice job! I was going to tell you they are really hard, so a dremel stone if your best bet.

I'd have to agree with the 'nice job' reference... fairly certain I would have notched the whole ring, and probably much larger than necessary..... and most likely also notched my hand!

Great stuff.

Thanks! You have to make sure to use the lowest speed possible when doing this. I had several cut off disks break apart and hit my chin and forehead. Tbe disks being so thin did not help matters much I guess!

I used thin dremel stones back in the days ... and notched diff rings sold by Bud's or Trinity.
