I've got a bunch of old Kyosho Burns and Inferno tanks that I would like to clean up/restore. The all have the green gunk in them. I could clean some of it all but not all.
Does anyone have an easy solution to clean these old tanks up? I notice there are alot of restored Kyosho buggy topics - so I imagine a few of you have had this issue?
Thanks Brian

Re: Restoring Old Fuel Tanks
the fuel is nitromethane with castor oil, so I would think isopropyl or methanol or even ethanol would remove the residue. some kind of alcohol, or some kind of oil cleaner, maybe simple green or even dawn and a scrub brush.

My biggest problem is getting the brush into the places. Would the ethanol, methanol, isopropyl dissolve the greeen gunk or would I have to get a brush in there?

Re: Restoring Old Fuel Tanks
From my experience, you need to get a brush of some kind inside to clean the surfaces. I have bought inexpensive brushes from craft stores. You can bend the handles so that you can get to all sides.
If there is leftover staining, you may try the hydrogen peroxide bath to whiten it back.
