Re: It begins for A1003 reproduction
Sorry everyone. We are cancelling this, just not enough interest. It is funny, people who asked us to make these months before we started this never even ordered. So they didn't put their money on the line when it mattered. http://sabulatech.com/SabulaTech/PartStarter.html
I kind of knew this would be the case. That is why I didn't try and finance the whole thing myself like the XX bulkheads. RC car and truck hobby is shrinking at an alarming rate right now. Even the vintage stuff is taking a hit. The number of customers selling all their stuff has increased. So many tracks and stores closed in the last year. This is whole other topic though.
We are in the process of going through refunds, if you don't see your Paypal money back in less than about a week let me know by phone. Some people will see as normal refunds. Some may see it as getting sent gift money I think through Paypal. Think because it has been so long since some paid I can't do a normal refund.
We are looking at getting some other metal parts made this year that don't require the huge amount of money up front. I was just on the phone with Gil this week to get some help on them. So this isn't the end of us doing parts, just proof we have to come up with some other projects that don't need so much money to complete.
Thanks to everyone who trusted me not to rip them off during this and tried to help me get them made.

I’m saddened to hear that it didn’t work out. My refund came through already. Thanks for trying and putting forth the effort you did. It was a great idea, imho.

Thanks for the kind words and support. I got some refunds processed already but for others I have to wait a few days for funds to move over from the holding account.

Re: It begins for A1003 reproduction
I'm sure that are several people on this board that understand this concept exactly...
Its just too simple to say YEAH, I'll take one and then not ever show up to pay for some people. Those are the people that you need to put down on your list of bewares...I've been trying to talk the LHS into taking deposits down on special order items for this purpose. Sooo many people come in and say can you get me this and when it shows up say I can save $1.34 if I get it off ebay/internet.

Glad you didn't lose anything on the deal and good luck in future endeavors.
Todd

Re: It begins for A1003 reproduction
Dan,
Probably a good time to do it, seeing as PayPal (in Australia at least) are changing their rules on refunds.... to quote them:
Shame about the lack of uptake on an obviously brilliant idea...We’re changing how we treat refunds. If you refund (partially or fully) a transaction to a buyer or a donation to a donor, there are no fees to make the refund, but the fees you originally paid as the seller will not be returned to you.

Dan, as we are all running out of stock now (pic from my car below)... any chance you'd breath some life back in that project? Otherwise I think our cars will be shelved back till the end of times...

I thought this was the end of times?
seriously, it looks like some shapeways parts are in your future. Surprised, quite a large number of losi parts in the shapeways store.

Yes Joe, I saw that there are a couple on SW... does the 3DP'ed stuff hold the abuse fine? Well, in the end it can't be as weak as the stock part anyway

Re: It begins for A1003 reproduction
Hey, this year I am going to try and get the ball rolling again. I will have some other financial obligations paid. But we shall see with current world events.
As for Shapeways, it all depends who is driving and if you it things. Back in the day I did A1003 and A1101 Bulkhead at Shapeways and they lasted great for me for a bit. The A1003 was going fine but I never really crashed. So I handed over control to my wife and first pipe she hit broke it. On the A1101 (XX) I broke it during a bad landing somersault off a jump.
Now I should mention that I tested them in worst situation possible to really torture them. In truck setup, not buggy. So they had much longer arms meaning more leverage to break them.
Still I paid way too much for them to want to buy more and decided to injection mold the A1101.

Re: It begins for A1003 reproduction
The prices people are asking for these on ebay are outrageous... $50, $60 and up. Its really sad....
Both my Pro and LXT have cracked and stripped holes
Fingers crosses this gains some traction as im sure im not the only one who could really use em.

Re: It begins for A1003 reproduction
I had planned to buy a handful of these each year, if and when produced. Of course, I suppose I could just buy several handfuls at the beginning if that would benefit the project more. There are some pretty cheap 3D ones on eBay now, but my experience with 3D stuff has not generated great reliability expectations for high stress parts. I'd really love to drive my vintage losi vehicles like I stole them...
