Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
360st was my 1st after market motor back in the 80s besides bag motors. I remeber it having huge balls in my stone stock Ultima bag then, wish i hadnt blown all my money on my current restos and i would buy one just to have, hell who knows, Thumbs cutn a fat hog in the ass these days, maybe he will buy me one

Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
If you wanted a beast motor, you would've loved the 240SB on 8.4V. 30,000+ RPM of bearinged, brushed brute force.
The only Le Mans motor that revved higher was the newer SPA 240WS. The 360 Gold was a real stump-puller too. If you ran any of those, you probably wouldn't be choosing ST's for your must-have list...except maybe the 240ST.
I saved this picture years ago, oh to have that collection:

I hada 240WS Spa in the Ultima. It was cool but i still think the 240st was better performance/$

Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
I'm finding this really hard to decide, I'm a fan of all the LeMANS motors, so picking 3 is quite tough, how about:
240S - Red is faster
480S - Blue looks awesome
240SB - I have 1 NIB
Honourable mentions to:
240T - I have 1 NIB
240ST - I have 1
360ST - I have 1
240S - Red is faster

480S - Blue looks awesome
240SB - I have 1 NIB
Honourable mentions to:
240T - I have 1 NIB
240ST - I have 1
360ST - I have 1

Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
A few years ago, since I had the soldering iron out, I went on a vintage motor resto kick. I did some mix & match with some of them as I was missing parts, and the previous owner of the 480S I acquired did a terrible solder job and melted the blue plastic endbell pretty badly. I put a spare 240SB comm and 480 Gold aluminum endbell I had lying around (with bearings) on one of the 480S motors, it probably runs more like a 240SB than a 480S now.
The other 480S I replaced the melted blue endbell with a spare plastic endbell. I got the almost NIB 240SB and 240SB parts on eBay for $15 years ago. Score!

Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
Thanks, coxbros1...I'd love to add the green 480T and red 240S to the collection eventually.

Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
480T simply because it's green. I wanted one even though it was wound for eight minute races. I knew I could drop the 240S armature into it for more speed.
480S is my second choice once again based on the colour blue.
360PT had some grunt as it's a 550 motor. My older brother had one in his Fox. Watching him gun the throttle and seeing the Fox lift it's front wheels
under acceleration was awesome for a young fella.

Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
Thought I’d do a quick stocktake of my LeMans Motors:
1 x 240SB NIB
1 x 240T NIB
2 x 240ST 1 in Optima, 1 in Turbo Mid SE
1 x 360ST in Turbo Optima
And I thought I’d have a look at the Pegasus that I have had for years awaiting a tidy up and too my surprise

A 480T
. Will pull it out some day soon and give it a tidy up, it’s too nice to be sitting in the back of a Pegasus I feel
I also have the modern LeMans 490 brushed motor sitting in my re-re scorpion
*edit - whoops, also better go check the Ultima Outlaw truck, can’t remember what that has in it
** 2nd edit - not a LeMans but still pretty

Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
You can count the Super Stock 20 and 34 as Le Mans motors Kym. It's on the instructions that come with the motors.

Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
My votes go to the following:
- 480Gold - because this was the first one I had... one of my dad's friend who was very wealthy and doing LOTS of RC gave it to me as an unasked present when I was a young teen... it ran on my Monster Beetle for ages before the brushes were too short to even reach the comm. Of course I had no idea what happened when the car stopped
My Dad's friend passed away a few years ago, R.I.P. I'm forever grateful. No idea where the mill has gone since... it's been more than 3 decades.
- SPA 240WS - baddest badboy on the block. I have one somewhere... I think.
- 360Gold - big block, alloy head, tanfastic looks. Legend
(edit... said PT... but really meant gold, with the alloy head... d'uh)

360-PT - I used to run [a borrowed] one in my Tamiya BigWig on a tight/bumpy dirt oval, brought home many trophies!
480-Gold - just looks sweet!
360-Gold - Mmm Gold...
