Ooooooo... I can't wait for this. A Nitro Brute resto AND an Assault resto on this board in the same month? The 10 year old in me is going to explode!

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
I purchased the basket case Assault on eBay a few days ago but haven't received it... but before that I had put a wanted to buy ad on another site and the guy just got a hold of me last night and said he had an a Assault that had never been ran and wanted to know if I was interested, and what I would pay for it. I made him an offer and he accepted, now I have both Assaults coming in the mail and I'm not really sure what to do with the basket case....the 1st one? should I finish the restoration which is what started this thread or just clean it up and sell it and go with this never ran piece? Opinions welcome
Here some pics he sent me on the "never ran one"...i havent seen it or received it yet, but i do have tracking info from shipment

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
I suggest you put in all the time, money and effort and clean up the old beater to mint condition and give it to someone in your family. I dunno, maybe a cousin or something like that.
Actually, you already have too much invested in the pile to let it be. Breathe new life into it and get it running like new, it deserves it!

If important parts on one are stripped out/bent/broken, you might actually NEED both cars to be able to build one perfect one. Then bag up the remaining parts as spares.

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Now that you have a mint shelfer, it only makes sense to restore the basket case and make a runner out of it. What an opportunity to actually be able to use such a rare vehicle.

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
They both came in. The one from ebay is a basket case
The other is mint like the guy said. I did have to fix the servo tray in the mint one. It was cracked in half. The basket case came with an aluminum one. It also has alot if parts missing, bent frame, etc. But i will fix it all. Heres a bunch if pics of both

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Yup, browned my trow
especially when i saw how rough that one is!
I have to get 1mm aluminum sheets to make new side cradles, 6mm round bar to finish the rear roll bar, some jackhole took it all off. I got a new engine too, but will have to run crank out of old motor above so i can run cone start. The nice engine above is out of the mint car, it hasnt been ran, clutch is new
