Because some people are in it for the hobby and some for the money. Values drop on originals when the rere come out. Personally im in it for the love of the hobby, I want originals and rereleases. It’s just a time to cash out before it crashes

because the hunt and the rarity is the fun bit... if the hunt is just about clicking BIN on ebay, it is neither fun, nor rare any more...

Interestingly I've always said it didn't matter to me. For the first time, with this car, it actually does :(

If the Topcat re-release is like the XLS, you won't be able to distinguish new parts from vintage ones (well, regarding the plastic parts anyway; the new aluminum parts are CNC cut rather than die cut so it's easy to see the difference). With this re-release, unfortunately the vintage car's value is reduced but it will always be more valuable than any re-released version. For the collector, documented provenance will be very important. If you still have a vintage car from bitd, be sure to find those old photos, receipts, etc. and keep them with the car.

I was 14 years old working the hobby show in Chicago for my local hobby shop. Our booth was next to Schumcher. I hit it off with Cecil, I really had no clue who he was at the time, just a nice guy in the booth next to me. Anyways, he offered me a free Topcat and parts for months. I was the only one I ever saw in my area and consider that a sponsorship :D :D

That's totally rad! What a great story/memory to have from your younger years.

I really want to pick one of these up. I have always loved the "mystique" of the belt-drives......
Hope you're doin' something fun.

It’s built 8) The build went well, no missing parts and every step has a bag- this is great for first timers. I wish more companies would do that. The screws, well, they are Pozidrive which are not quite compatible with common American screws so don’t forget to order a proper driver. I had to replace a few along the way as I didn’t order said screwdrivers. It’s kinda like using a metric pinion on a standard spur lol. Shocks are very smooth and build exactly like the rere at XLS. You will need some long wires to the motor for either battery configuration. It does not appear to support a full size lipo as neither of mine would fit into the rear bulkhead. Anyway, here she is....

Sweet! 8) A Traxxass patent attorney should be knocking on your door any moment.
Are those tires supplied in the kit? Still undecided if I'll spring of one of these but it looks tempting.

Yes tires are included, and they have foam inserts as well.

Now that is new.... are the tyres (that's like tires, only using the correct spelling!) a soft compound now?

Looks good Jeff!

yes, I would say not as soft as what people are running on modern tracks around here but they feel much softer than originals!
