Re: AYK Pro Radiant spares - THE MOTHERLOAD
That is quite the story and score on parts, thanks for sharing!
I was always a fan of the Pro Radiant and Race Prep as a kid, especially their motors. Steve and Mike Dunn were great drivers and I always liked seeing them taking on the bigger factory supported teams back in the day and being successful.
For me, I never got that Pro Radiant as a kid, but my parents did buy me a Radiant for my birthday which I was happy with and served me well
So hard to find examples for sale these days, but I would love to do a box art build at some point.

Re: AYK Pro Radiant spares - THE MOTHERLOAD
'Rusty' the Pro Radiant turned out to be hiding a rare secret hop-up part, which is referenced in the Race Prep literature which came with the car.... these are basically additional tune-up sheets which were added as the Dunn brothers evolved their race car.
Rusty had the adjustable chain tensioning roller which included a pivoting arm and ballraced roller; a huge improvement over the fixed position and plastic-on-metal original.
Quick oil soak and it spins like new so will be going back on to the final race car.

Next point of focus was the body, or bodyshells to be specific. These speak for themselves and i still cannot stop looking at them. I have a friend in the UK who can work magic, so i told him i wanted a variation on my old race 'flame' livery, as well as something along the lines of the well known 'Booker T.' Rc10 scheme.
He didn't let me down
They are still at the fine trimming and drilling stage, but Lordie, they are going to look the business when finally fitted. The details are simply mind-blowing.

Still working on these, and recently picked up another couple of sets of orange wishbones, a set of out diff out drives as well as some undertrays.

Re: AYK Pro Radiant spares - THE MOTHERLOAD
Where do you consistently find all these buggies and parts?
I'd love to just get one Pro Radiant again some day, but for now, I'll just keep enjoying yours!

Re: AYK Pro Radiant spares - THE MOTHERLOAD
With the initial spares load, as well as selling off a fair bit to recoup my initial outlay I have squirreled away enough parts to build up around 4 cars, but with a few key items outstanding. The main part being diff out drives. I recently managed to source new two pairs from different people, which means I can now go ahead and complete another car. My initial spares post also prompted somebody to contact me out of the blue on Fb... the guy had a wrecked Pro Radiant (which I called 'Rusty') which he couldn't restore through lack of parts, but he saw I had what was needed to let me take it off his hands. 'Rusty' is now the blue car with flames in the pictures.... my racer. Things have fallen into my lap a bit, but I also spent a fair amount of time hunting down parts or wrecked cars online.
I am now actively hunting for a USED rear gold bumper for one of these. I have two new in packet ones which should really go on to shelf cars, but i want to build another racer and i can't really bring myself to use a packet fresh one for that!
