Old guy from Colorado
Old guy from Colorado
Hello from Colorado,
I haven't raced RC in almost 8 years but lately have felt the itch to build/restore something from the old days like an RC10.
If you raced on road in the mid-2000's, you may remember Powell Racing Components. That was my business. I produced a 4 cell conversion for the Team Associated RC12L3/4 call the Quad12 as well as parts for other cars and later produced an updated version of the RC10L2 called the MAX10. I sent parts all over the globe, to 5 of the 7 continents.
As brushless motors and LiPo batteries became more popular racing became less fun and interesting for me. T-bar cars were cast as aside and all the 12th scale cars homogenized into the same design. In 2010, I closed PRC and stopped cutting carbon fiber.
I'm looking forward to restoring a car and possibly cutting a little carbon fiber again.

Re: Old guy from Colorado
Welcome! I am in Colorado too and used to race at MHOR raceway in the mid 80s. I am restoring my old cars as well. Pan cars and off road. I do remember the MAX10. Maybe you can design a modern lipo chassis conversion for the 10L platform!

You're in good company here, this is pretty much an old guys' club, because it's the old guys who appreciate vintage RC stuff the most.
