I still have 2 of these cars that I got while in Japan.
Most people remove the belt covers to reduce the drag. It lets in more dirt, but if you're racing, cleaning is usually part of the maintenance. I haven't heard of anyone removing the rollers, I'd think that would add to the drag on the belt. I still have both rollers and covers on mine. Just rebuilt one of them a year or so ago, haven't touched the other.
I'm trying to remember the limiter nut - seems to me I lost that one from the one I just rebuilt so had to get another on ebay.
I'm in agreement, 2s is plenty on these old cars.

Sorry, just noticed this. I removed the bushings from the gearbox and used bearings to reduce friction, plus ended up cutting the sections away and yes removed my belt covers but raced ob carpet or grass and astro rather than dirt or clay. I also removed my front steering posts and put in ultima or mid posts that didnt screw into the top deck and gave another lap of race time so improced efficiency more.
Now ive tensioned the rear gearbox belt and also added a tensioner to the L brace to tension the front belt seeing as batteries hold more power than three races so to account for the torque from brushless and has saved the belts from getting ripped apart.
Also redesigned the slipper layshaft to fit a vts slipper clutch as well, put the car in my hands and i havent raced for 12 years and was a top twenty driver then and now a half a lap to a lap of a driver placed 19th in Britain, which shows development has improved the car massively. In the right hands this cars capable of much more.
