Barracuda Race Timer and Battery Analyser
Something cool of ours from up in the loft..... race timer and battery analyser from the late 80's. This was pre-transponders really, although they did develop a transponder loop later on. It looks in great condition still anyway. Advert from May '88.

You have some really cool and interesting items in your collection. Things I could have only dreamed about back in the late 80's early 90's.

Re: Barracuda Race Timer and Battery Analyser
I was just very very lucky that my father was probably more into the whole RC gadget scene than I was back then. I was in my young teens at the time. A lot of great father-son times were had when we were out racing

Even more luckily he safely stashed it all away in his loft awaiting rediscovery.

Re: Barracuda Race Timer and Battery Analyser
I had one of the Barracuda lap counting systems - only up until recently when I sold it onto a fellow IconicRC member. The one I had was somewhat more 'used' looking than yours, the club I used to run - Burton Model Car Club inherited it from Rockingham Buggy Club which folded when the shale track they raced on was built upon (this track was used by Schumacher for promotional use & the 'Tips from the Team video'). The Barracuda lap timer replaced a traffic light starter & simple LCD lap counter, it still required manual inputting for the laps but at least it provided a split time & sorted/print out finals. The Barracuda was then replaced with a laptop & a brand new AMB timing loop.... that we still use today at Kettering (the club born from the Burton club)

Re: Barracuda Race Timer and Battery Analyser
I am virtually certain i raced at Burton a few times back then Dan.... i believe our club (The Three Tuns) used to have the occasional inter-club meeting with Tamworth and also Burton. For some reason I can remember the guy who ran the R/C shop in the middle of Wolverhampton being there...?

Re: Barracuda Race Timer and Battery Analyser
Probably a different 'Burton' - This club raced in Burton Latimer Nr. Kettering.... I did race at another Burton - but i'm pretty sure that was nowhere near Brum eitherdinglem wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 2:54 pm I am virtually certain i raced at Burton a few times back then Dan.... i believe our club (The Three Tuns) used to have the occasional inter-club meeting with Tamworth and also Burton.
