Heh, turns out there were MRP 553 motors. I was just looking through old magazine scans and happened to notice a bunch of them listed in a 1981 race report.

I've had these laying around for a while and have no idea what they are or what they fit. Looks like 1/8 on road? Possibly early brass sleeve bushed front wheels? Wheel diameter is 2" and tire diameter is 3 1/4". Tires are 1 3/4" wide and the wheels are a hair wider at 1 7/8"

They might press fit on a tapered Kyosho stub axle.

i got this in a lot of 4 cars, google searches havent helped me get any closer,
it sits on some losi road weapon tyres, so my question is: is it a losi ?

i personally think its a clone of some sort, maybe traxxas...

I got these out drives in a xxt I got in pieces and i haven't seen any with deep grooves in them like these. They look like the groves are machined into them on purpose. Are these aftermarket of some sorts and why is there a deep groove in them?

No they're magnetic, on the side opposite the groove it doesn't have much wear on them and the cvds aren't the worst I've seen either (not sure how much on an indicator that would be though)

I guess if you were to lock the cvds straight using the grooves you might have less drivetrain losses at the universal joint possibly for stock racing?

That is not done on purpose. If it was, it’s unfortunate because it won’t work. Those are basically toast

Hahaha I figured as much, I've just never seen any wear down so perfectly before

They were probably used on an oval car or something without much rear suspension travel. So they kept getting hammer at those spots every time the throttle was pulled.
