No they're magnetic, on the side opposite the groove it doesn't have much wear on them and the cvds aren't the worst I've seen either (not sure how much on an indicator that would be though)
I guess if you were to lock the cvds straight using the grooves you might have less drivetrain losses at the universal joint possibly for stock racing?
Hahaha I figured as much, I've just never seen any wear down so perfectly before
