Tyres with rubber tubes stuck over the spikes ?
I've seen these things a few times on vintage tyres , little rubber tubes that were glued over spikes , presumably to increase grip , I just wondered if anybody knew more about them? I'll post a picture later but I'm on my tablet and linking pictures is beyond my skill level
.

If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

I remember seeing them from CRP and Kyosho. We never used them, but they were...interesting

I remember the hard spikes inserts going into cup tires like the Pro-Line Octi-Grabs?
Still not as boss as the old metal screw spikes though.

Re: Tyres with rubber tubes stuck over the spikes ?
these are the things i'm talking about , they were fitted to the Zerda tyres i got recently.

on the rear tyres they have been stuck over the spikes , on the front the spikes had been partially clipped , i'm assuming he wanted more rear grip and less front.

Re: Tyres with rubber tubes stuck over the spikes ?
I remember mounting up the set that I made (each perfectly balanced iirc

They sucked on ice, they sucked on concrete, they sucked in snow, no advantage in gravel. I'm sure they would have work in a clumpy silty loam or a shag carpet, but I didn't have time for that nonsense

Hope you're doin' something fun.

No I'm sure these were an aftermarket add on thing , I've seen them in pictures a few times now but this is the first time I've actually had them in hand to look at .
It's frustrating , I've just been looking for more pictures but without a product name and having only seen them randomly and rarely they are hard to locate.

The kyosho were a glue on round shaped piece. The CRP were a spike and pushed through the tire

Re: Tyres with rubber tubes stuck over the spikes ?
Those black push through spikes might actually look kinda cool if the tire was prepped properly and the spikes were done in a nice even symmetrical pattern. I don't see them performing well but for a shelf queen, might give the right car a little "mad max" appeal----perhaps someone running the old "Dirt Warrior" body
