Bolink BL500 Mach 12 kit
Just acquired this early Bolink! Very happy to have it and it's in very good shape! Rolling chassis for nitro or electric. I messaged Bob Rule and he says it was the first of their kits. More pics to follow

Still have the one bagged, but built this one from parts. It was built as a nitro, but there were also motor mounts available to go electric. I’ll get a body mounted and some electronics mounted in the future.

Re: Bolink BL500 Mach 12 kit
I'm surprised that small cox engine would propel the car along. What about throttle and brake, those engines were usually flat out or nothing?

Re: Bolink BL500 Mach 12 kit
Throttle is an exhaust throttle that rotates around the cylinder. There were no brakes stock, but lots of options- from simple leather or brass straps to the bolink drum brake kit that used a set of clutch shoes.
The .049’s propelled them pretty good actually. This was a popular thing in the late 70’s

That is an amazing score. I love all the old bolinks. My first really fast rc was a Bolink 12 with a mod motor and I've been a fan ever since. All the old .049 powered cars are super cool.

Re: Bolink BL500 Mach 12 kit
@Curtis posted a few pics of his fathers cars on Facebook and one was this Mach 12. Still waiting to hear if he knows any of the history. I have a couple of those wings too
