Hi - first post. Moving my mum from her old flat recently, I found a bunch of my stuff in her attic. Including a canvas bag with my old RC10 in that hasn't been touched in about 20 years. Anyone keen to see a few pics?

I am not 100% on which model this is (which is crazy given I coveted it sooo much at the time and probably could have made a decent replica out of mud with my bare hands whilst blindfolded) - any help here appreciated.

I posted a similar thread when I joined a few years ago after digging my RC10 out of the closet at my mom's house after about 20 years (see the Hot Trick thread in my Sig if you're interested). It's a very common way to get started here.

Edit: wow, nice car! Wish mine was in that good of shape when I got it out!

Does anyone know what model it might be? I bought it on a trip to Florida probably around 91. It's in pretty good condition (apart from the snapped servo arm) as it was never raced, just used up and down my drive as there were no clubs nearby and I was too young to get about myself.

I'm kinda excited to get it up and running. I might check out some local races too. From some Internet searching looks like things have moved on a bit in the electric off road scene.

What are the biggest changes you guys reckon might catch me out? No AM/FM, all digital? No NiCads all LiPo?

I just recently toyed with racing again myself since there's actually a few really good tracks not too far from the new house.

It's all about the new radios and brushless motor /lipo battery. Definitely great for speed and run times. It's cool I'm not lugging around a half dozen batteries and few motors per car... Oh, and depending on the track, tire saucing is a big deal...

Looks like what you have is a very nice and clean example of an early model RC10 Team Car.

Looking at your pictures it doesn't appear the servo arm is snapped, you are simply missing the two collars that hold the piano wire together, an easy fix.

As mentioned above, electric racing has changed quite a bit since the '90s. LiPo batteries (longer run time, can be easily charged and re-used on race day), 2.4Ghz digital radios (no more crystals, less glitching, etc.), Brushless motor systems (little-to-no maintenance) just to name a few.

Racing would be fun to get back into for you, however my recommendation would be that unless you really had your heart set on racing that exact vehicle it looks to be in way too good of condition to be raced. You should clean it up, add a few bits to it and shelf it. There are a lot of budget conscious ways to get back into racing, including "new" vintage options.

That car looks way too nice to run or race. Please dont do that!

There are plenty of cheap runner appropriate cars on ebay. They dont come around too often in the shape yours appears to be in so why go and ruin it! Clean it up and put it on the shelf!
