BNIB Traxxas TRX3 build

Post by Raul Garcia »

Well, I bit the bullet, swiped the credit card for a 90's Factory drivers car that was never assembled. Now I don't build shelf buggies, I build race cars. It for sure won't be a box art, maybe not even a Trx3 body. I have plans in my mind, and it all starts Wednesday.

. I'll start posting pics when the time comes, stay tuned!

Cool. You ever notice the box car has a blue anodized motorplate on the "specs" panel? Hmmm... I am looking forward to your build. A&L outdrives / dogbones would work also if you have trouble finding the MIP.

Mark
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Thanks Mark. I actually have both a new set of A&L Universals, and a NIP MIP universals.

I have also the A&L ball bearing steering arms, but the drag link holes are too close together. So I was forced to use the stock for now.

Inside the transmission, it has Thorp diff gear, Traxxas 30t hard anodized idler with addition bearings to fit the case, and a STRC layshaft to use the AE V2 slipper, which is covered up by a black moulded RPM gear cover for a Slash. Also used Schelle hi speed bearings in the trans case.

I continued to fix all of the chassis screw holes because the countersink wasn't deep enough for the lower chassis. I am have a custom carbon chassis (upper and lower), custom shock towers and custom a&l drag link, and battery retainer.

Every screw is stainless, except the 4mm screws.

Shocks are built per manual, but I added Ti-Ni shock shafts . Hard anodized aluminum pivot balls on all ball joints.

2.2 wheel upgrade front and rear.
J Concepts Detonator for the RC10. It fits really well.

I'll post pictures soon!

Thanks for building yours (assuming you post pics at some point). It will tone down the itch I've had for a few years about building mine

Wow , I got lost in time on this one. A year has passed and I just pulled the TRX3 out of retirement for another Vintage National's. I'm sorry I didn't post pics earlier!
