I thought about going that route but didn't have the materials on hand to make it. I had lots of different styles of body posts and kydex.

Re: Factory Works/A&L C2 build...
Saturday morning... to the old drill press!
Rear body mounts installed and all holes have been countersunk for flat head socket screws.

I have to do some slight adjustments to the body post holes, one in the rear and one in the front are a bit to tight for my taste. I'm a bit anal sometimes about stuff.

Hope to work on the electronics placement soon.
(1) I need to figure out what length of motor sensor cable I need.
(2) Terminate the motor wires from the ESC to the motor.
(3) Figure out the RX antenna mounting.
Of course, work on the body some more. I've figured out what color I want to use. Since I have a huge stash (40+ cans) of Tamiya spray paint from my model car building days that was easy.

A little fabrication this morning... a Kydex front skid plate. I couldn't make it as tall as I wanted because of a big dremel tool "skid" mark in the surface. It was a piece from the scrap box. I'm still digging it though.

I have started on the electronics/wiring this afternoon.
TQ Wire black 13awg wire from motor to ESC with TQEQ (from Japan) gold plated motor terminals. TQ Wire 200mm sensor cable.

I made some wire looms and a bracket to hold the ESC power cap from scrap Kydex.

Re: Factory Works/A&L C2 build...
I needed some taller wing tubes and having no correct size tubing, I start digging in the stash. I took some decent shape, straight, RC10 nose tubes and commenced to putting some "mojo" to work.
I cut them down to the length required (cut right at where the threaded hole for the tub mounting) and threaded the ends 8-32. I then made some collars that allow me to adjust the wing up 7mm. Due to a lack of 1/4" dia. aluminum round bar, they are made from titanium

A very productive morning!

Wow. Impressive. If you machine any cool aluminum bits, I'd love to anodize them.

I will keep that in mind! All I have for aluminum is 3/8" diameter round bar. I've not bought any metal for a long time.

Late to the game but that trans is a beast...NomadRacer wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2017 8:19 amI'd like to read that post. I'll try the forum search feature.
The Power Clutch and a spare belt are on the way. I was thinking of trying a short stack rotor 17.5 brushless. It would have less torque and I could tinker with all kinds of parameters within the ESC programing. That's something to ponder while I wait on the USPS to bring me all my stuff!
I have an original one from back in the day that lasted through tons of speed runs and hard launches WITHOUT a slipper - she finally had to be rebuilt...but no complaints from me.

Thanks for the link to the LW tranny info. I'll give it a few runs with the 25.5 Novak and see how it runs, then, maybe drop down to my 17.5 Reedy M3 motor. I'll still have to file on the motor plate top screw slot to do that.

Re: Factory Works/A&L C2 build...
I missed Mikes thread on the mid motor setup, very cool! One issue tho is that the idler is on the tensioned side of the belt in that config, so if it held up as well as it did in a sub par condition, that says a lot!

I got some wiring secured this morning for the servo and ESC switch. The HW 25mm cooling fan had a strange sound so I'm replacing it with a 30mm dual ball bearing Wild Turbo Fan (WTF) to be safe. Hoping it will arrive in the next couple of days.

Great build. I love all the attention to detail. That is what takes a build to the next level. Thanks for posting.

lavigna - Thank you for the comments. Since joining, I've seen some incredibly clean builds. It's my intention to join those ranks.
I managed to track down a Novak Ballistic 17.5T brushless motor for only 60 bucks!
The WTF 30mm fan arrived, along with a cool, machined aluminum fan guard.
