TRX-B (poor mans TRX3) and SRT-R (you guessed it!)
Not a difficult conversion, but since the TRX3 front bulkhead is so hard to find I used a Rustler/Bandit clip in whole. The rear is stock Bandit with a Nitro Stampede bulkhead (will need spacers) or a TRX-3 will bolt right up as well. I'll made a short brace for the trans to the bulkhead. The battery boxes are pretty easy to find. I'm using a A&L steering kit, but a TRX style should bolt right up if you can find one. The shock tower is a copy of the TRX3 but wider for the bulkhead.
It's not a clone by any means, just a cheap and easy way to have a runner that isn't just a damn Bandit

Re: TRX-B (poor mans TRX3)
From the original Robocop: I LLLIKE IT!
Adapted from the original Robocop: I'd like to buy that for a dollar!
Bandit donor prices just skyrocketed!
Certainly joking about an as yet undetermined price isn't a violation of forum policy is it?
Ok joking aside I am pretty sure I'm gonna end up with one of these at some point.
Nice work. Is the mounting screw pattern for the all plastic with integral arm mounts trans identical to the original 272 trans? And do the traxxas steering posts fit the A&L bearings or what's up there with the posts?

Re: TRX-B (poor mans TRX3)
Hole pattern for the entire rear is identical...except...the small screws are not correct. On the sample shown you can see I don't have any screws in them. I plan to move the one set and eliminate the other. I don't see people with a true trx3 doing this so might as well cater to the Bandit.
The posts up front are just A&L yellow posts with some aluminum standoffs above em. The stock steering set would fit but you'd need the whole thing. I can replicate this setup where the Traxxas parts are harder to find. The rack bar is custom to allow stock Bandit links to work without modification
The bone conversion is different too. The trx1 set won't fit Bandit, these are A&L Losi bones for the LW cut down 1/8". I might have some made up.

Re: TRX-B (poor mans TRX3)
So THATS what you been up to
awhile back I had someone asking me about some traxxas parts and I realized a couple weeks ago when I looked back at the list that I never replied to them about not having anything I could help with
. I typed it but its still sitting there...actually a few of the pieces you asked about are on my list of "needs" also so great, I'll never be able to afford them if they show up knowing my competition can use the parts as a tax deduction
...
Liking how you made this. I've wanted to build something with one of those RPM trannys just to try it but tying to get some other things done and my traxxas project boxes are less full than the others so gotta go with the ones where I have something to work with.
Looks great...now how about that SRT version

Re: TRX-B (poor mans TRX3)
I could use a trace of the chassis and upper. I have the rear tower drawn. I think I have the front but not positive. They are cheap tho!
I think I'll convert the Bandit(TRX-B) to the Rustler (SRT-R?) instead of buying a fresh kit to swap. Not many differences in pieces really

A few pics of the SRT-R brother alongside the TRX-B
SRT-R is set up with the Power Clutch as well. I wanted to know if it fit

This is really cool! I hope it becomes a bit of a trend
And FWIW, I don't think there's much wrong with "just a damn Bandit"
It is amazing it has been sold for so very long! I'm about to start racing again and not with my Losi 22... looking to sell that, going to start again with my Bandit

Re: TRX-B (poor mans TRX3) and SRT-R (you guessed it!)
hey GomachV,
Did you reproduce the rear shocktower also?
I don't know if it's the ageing, but a lot of the old black glassfiber epoxy towers i have from traxxas, have stress cracks or miss a broken off part.
I do like this conversion better than your ultima trailing arm one. More space on this chassis to mount the electronics low.

Yes I have the towers available. The rear on these are original style but I did draw up a version with modern wing mount holes too
