My RC10T Rebuild

I've been working on my humble rebuild for a few weeks now. I'm the original owner of the truck, I bought it when I was 13 and have kept it ever since. The last time it ran was sometime around 20 years ago. Now that I have kids I wanted to get it running again so I can run with my son's cars. It started life as a Sport edition with mechanical speed control and bushings. Mods that I made back then and today include full BB, Novak Rooster, B4 Slipper, HPI Super Star wheels, HPI Yokahama tires, and Thunder Tiger CVD's (T2/T3 size). I recently rebuilt the trans, steering, and the original gold shocks along with de-chromed the HPI wheels and dyed them and the bumper lime green. All that's left is to install the slipper, motor, and finish the body. I'll be running a cheapo HPI 15T Firebolt motor for the time being and will eventually go brushless.

Nice that you can get your kids involved. Mine are both in high school, so their phones are all they want to do these days.

Truck is done for the most part. Body is from Andy Jacobson. He crushed it. Was exactly what I was looking for! Underneath isn't going to win any beauty pageants but it gets the job done. The truck is a great runner with the 15T brushed HPI motor and as me and my son's driving gets better I'll probably put conservative brushless system in the truck.

Rit liquid. I mixed two parts green to one part yellow. Then I dyed them on the stove and kept them in until I achieved the color I was looking for.

Ahhh, I see. Thought it might be some other dye since it was so light vs. my rit dye greens. Gonna have to do some mixing next time around to see what I can come up with. There was a neon green dye I ran across on ebay awhile back from some off brand dye company stating it would work on nylon rc parts but didn't trust the non Rit stuff so it stayed with the seller.

Are the front hubs converted to hex? I'm trying to figure out how to convert the front of mine but haven't found any info on it.

I would assume it's the same as the RC10, using B4 parts.

No, fronts aren't hex. Standard 3/16" axle. I need to try and find a solution for the rear axles, while running over the weekend the one of the rear axle nuts kept on coming loose. Maybe it's just because it's an old nylok nut and the nylon is all worn out? Has this happened to anyone else?

Exactly, did several times in the past. Replaced the nut and back on the track.

Looks great! What color did the wheels start out as?

They started out as chrome that was pretty nasty. They were all chipped up and I repainted them when I was a kid with a Testors paint marker I stripped them with spraying them several times with Easy Off oven cleaner. It was pretty nasty stuff but it did the trick.
