235mm wide body shells
235mm wide body shells
Hi, I apologize if that subject was treated on this forum... but I looked for quite a long time in vain. Same on the web. The idea would be to try something different to dress up my Rockies. they have an apparently unusual wheelbase of 265mm (sounds like 10.5 inches) and the body has to be wide enough to cover the wheels, say around 235mm seems it looks like a somehow standard. Issue being ? Well, they are difficult to find !
Since there is a bit of knowledge on this forum about these old buggys, would some of you have already found alternatives to get cars bodies on buggies ?
I would be surprised that we couldnt find any !
My rare findings are:
A long thread, quite interesting on the matter... but very old:
http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/26595-wide-110th-shells-235-mm-wide-270-mm-wheelbase-where-can-i-get-them/&page=1
Here some to sale but if the width is quite OK, the wheelbase might be too long (280mm):
http://deltaplastikusa.com/10th-scale/280mm
There, the wheelbase is somehow right (260mm) but then the width is far too narrow (200mm):
http://deltaplastikusa.com/10th-scale/200mm
So all in all... not much to find !

Re: 235mm wide body shells
I can't remember the make but I believe it is Parma. Mine is a Vauxhall Astra. I believe I have an extra and I know the eBay seller I bought it from had a bunch too. But here's what I believe you are searching for? Something like this?

Hello,
Exactly ! But those bodies are not the most common ones !

Re: 235mm wide body shells
It's a long time since on road bodies were readily available for mounting on buggy chassis, but there are some still around.
First the old Bolink wide bodies, now sold by RJ Speed. They can be found towards the end of the list here http://www.rccarkings.net/bodies.htm#rjspeed
McAllister Racing still make a range of bodies for oval racers http://www.mcallisterracing.com/index_files/Page801.htm
A bit closer to you, PK Racing still stock a small selection of old wide touring car bodies http://www.pkracing.nl/bodywidelist.jsp

Definitely not that common. I was searching for the Celica when I found mine.Antonov wrote:Hello,

With the big market of short course trucks in surprised a rally car modeled on 4wd buggies hasn't emerged.
